Zimbabwe Signs $533 Million Deal with China to Revamp Railways | Vantage with Palki Sharma

Zimbabwe Signs $533 Million Deal with China to Revamp Railways | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Zimbabwe has signed a $533 Million deal with China to revamp its railway infrastructure. The deal has been signed with the TransTech Engineering Corporation, a subsidiary of the China Railway Group. Zimbabwe's railway network has been around for more than a century. It was built by the British during colonial times. After independence, Zimbabwe's rail network hit peak capacity in the 1990s, but it has been on the decline since. This has resulted in freight levels reaching less than 15% of their peak. Zimbabwe has great mineral wealth, but the lack of transportation means it cannot export enough minerals for profit.

Definitely bro !!! Definitely !!! And we won't forget what that Dirty Supremacist Fascist West has done to Zimbabwe when the Great Mugabe wanted to claim Zimbabwean Stolen Land. Actually, the Western Media Dirty Propaganda is efficient enough that many Blacks see the Great Mugabe as a Devil. Our people is way too ignorant and that is a big problem.

You guys get robbed by both in negotiations so what does it matter. Deals that you sign always put your country at a disadvantage and you have the resources which means that you have the advantage. You should focus on electing better leaders that can negotiate deals that put Zimbabwe in the advatage.

You seldom hear this woman talking about Sri Lanka's Hambantota Port nowadays, do you? Wanna know why? Because Hambantota is now fast becoming a transhipment hub for Asia-Pacific, the Middle-East and Europe. Definitely, a success story like Hambantota is a no-go-zone for this not-so-accurate roadside fortune teller, who spent several years since 2017 trying to convince everyone that it's a Chinese debt-trap. Belgium then lowered the amount but we still only paid 20% and the news then explained why we were struggling so much to repair our rail system. I wonder how China coming into the mix considering the rights of NRZ between Belgium and Zimbabwe will pan out. For now we will have to wait and see.

The idea of building and controlling is good. This is because over and over again Africans governments proved inept in managing what they inherited from colonial governments. Even the Kenyan SGR is degrading very fast in areas being managed by Kenyans. Tribalism has quickly settled in and African "standards" is now getting visible. Zimbabwe has gone down not because of sanctions, Zimbabwe has gone down because of an African mentality. It's not only Zimbabwe, this could have happened to any African country. Africans need to study why China succeeded. Africa has been blinded by the West. Palki report comes from a biased angle. India's hate for China is a bit too obvious. She can only criticise China yet she knows very well India has no solution for any African problem to date. Zimbabwe is better of dealing with China but unless the African mentality changes, then development will wait.

So it signed commercial deals with HK, Singaporean companies to build highway and ports. The companies that built managed and charges fees like tollways which was profitable. China’s exports accelerated and we just put those costs are transaction everyone gained. The Guansheng Highway whose lease just got extended for another twenty years bears testament that it works. Wht we've seen in Zim of Chinese infrastructure is something akin to a road that falls apart as the Chinese are done their activities here. People blame sanctions for Zim's state of dilapidation, but they fail to acknowledge thatbunder Ian Smith when sanctions were proper sanctions, unlike today's targeted sanctions, Rhodesia rose in power thru independence from Britain. High quality goods were made and the country was virtually self sufficient. The currency value even surpassed that of the Pound. Those who blame sanctions on everything are the same as those who sit on the roadside asking for money.
