I have invested in grow bags and am growing potatoes in my garden now every year. I can get up to 20 good sized potatoes in each bag and they have lasted all the way up to Feb. There is no excuse now, everyone should be able to grow crops in bags. Best thing is that you can move them around too and they dont need weeding. Its sooo much easier. The only downside is the watering.

Taewa were much more easier to grow in colder climate...Back then me dad used to grew these thing on the back(usually aruhe). Zimbabweans were gonna have some hard time living within those sanctions. Wood ash could be a good substitute for chem ferts. Used to take me jandals into the skirts of hill in south back then while me dad was bussy mingling with dairy cattle heheh. I looked it up and finds that rhodesia was a fucked up state to begin with. Much different than how we started our relationship with maoris here in NZ. They were too segregated with the more dominant native peeps that they are creating their own utopia and rarely integrates the native community into their farmlands. These pockets of farmland shouldn't be dependant on mechanization when they were low on oil. Just need something that could grew on arid desert.

if they sat the bags in water basins, as seen on Larry Hall's kiddie pool garden, they could grow even more variety of food and save water too.
