Zimbabwe, a country of "Gold and Glamour"

Zimbabwe, 18 March -- When people think of Zimbabwe they tend to consider the negative stereotypes associated with the country. However, Zimbabwe's own king of bling says there's so much more to his country which he describes as rich and on the verge of a turnaround. eNCA Africa Editor Chris Maroleng caught up with multi-millionaire businessman Phillip Chiyangwa.

    You know it takes 10 million to build houses for 2000 people in Zimbabwe 10 million to build 40 schools (that are actually good) 10 million to start a 10 acre farm that can provide jobs for 50 people

    Was on the sanctions list? Not many people were on the sanctions list and most of them were targeted for crimes they committed. This makes me suspicious. One man is rich and the country (about 13 - 16 million people) is labelled glamorous. While Zimbabwe is not a hellhole there is still a long way to go before the average lifestyle can be considered decent.

    i certainly agree with Chiyangwa, many of us people are struggling and not moving forward because we see poverty and hunger in our lives and future...The Bible clearly stated that you can change your world with your tongue..if you want to be wealthy and successful you need to start declaring that with your mouth and then begin to see it even when it seems so impossible let God do the rest, even if you kumusha musha if you declare nd see ur self living in a mansion, God will do it for you..

    He has a house in my mom's neighborhood. One of many I am sure. Though I must say, why would anyone need 25 lounges. It seems excessive. The new houses they have in that neighborhood have crazy things liked 25 lounges. My mom's house was built before independence by white settlers. It was in those areas black people where not allowed to even walk by. Segregation. But at independence, alot of white settlers got scared of the black majority government and moved to Apartheid South Africa. It was one of such white settlers my parents bought the house I grew up in. It is one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in the country, but our house is old. We certainly don't have 25 lounges like all this new money. But we share a zip code.

  • @GrowthPrinciples

    And what has your class bought you?? I didn't think it bought you a house with 33 bedrooms? Did it? Yes, Chiyangwas house now has 33 bedrooms, not the 18 reported at the time. The man is flamboyant and extravagant, most of you haters will never achieve what he has even if God gave you 2 lifetimes!

    Class is whats left after you're in the ground. I dont need 33 rooms nor do I hold extravagance and flamboyance in high regard. Im quite sure whatever he has earned comes from tramping on the downtrodden and exploiting the corrupt environment in his failed state.

  • @GrowthPrinciples

    @GrowthPrinciples

    Not really, assets are what is left for future generations when you are in the ground. No matter how classy you are, your children can't eat or live in "class" after youve gone, but houses and businesses they will appreciate and live off them if they are sensible enough to manage them well. Personally, I find no honour in poverty. If you want to get Biblical, in Proverbs it says a "righteous man leaves an inheritance for his childrens children" - you cant do that if you are of modest means. And this belief that every rich man in Africa got there at the expense of the "downtrodden" is just as lame as it is outdated. I have seen modern slavery here in the UK where people are paid less than those on the welfare system, by companies that make billions. I appreciate what the wealthy do, they create jobs for you and me to live off. I have never seen a poor person employing another! You may not appreciate the 33 bedrooms, but you dont know what Chiyangwa has planned for them in the future. The man could be turning that mansion into a hotel or lodge for future generatins to live off.

    Class is about humility, an heir of grace and the absence of bombastic boastfulness. If someone in a broken and failed state like Zimbabwe is living a lifestyle like that, he is most likely exploiting the poor. Maybe not: still no class. Expensive cars and useless "guest-house" mansions are not assets they are liabilities. To drive through the rubble of a broken state a million dollar Bently is not classy. He can flaunt his wealth all he wants, he will just never have class in my eyes.

    Fiona Prescott Too many haters and not enough lovers! Rid your life of all haters and toxic folk even if they are in your family. I am currently doing, and it is not a fun thing but a peaceful thing. Folk hating on this man because of his house. When I last checked, it was called "his house!" Black, white, brown, yellow or red, I do not want anyone around me who cannot speak into my life and help me reach my destiny. Funny thing, I was just thinking about this a few hours ago.
