Hey Mike, thanks for another informative video. I have a cautionary tale to photographers wanting to get in bed with Zillow. I have been using Zillow 3d home tours for a few years and have shot over 200 3d tours. I was a certified zillow photographer since 2020. Zillow 3d home was a great inexpensive alternative to both matterport and iguide. Not a 1 for 1 replacement, but rather a great service for realtors that wanted to tell clients they offered a 3d tour without paying hundreeds of dollars. Better yet, Zillow also offered a 1 week bump in advertisment in zillow! Realtors really liked that perk. All the while there "I buyer" program was bleeding millions in losses. Then Zillow stopped the certified photographer progam around 10/22, and told us to remove Zillow branding from our website and reversed course on everything they were telling photographers for the last 3 years. in 2022, Zillow purchased VRX Media, a RE Photo service to compete with us independant shooters- wasnt that nice...I invested in IGUIDE and stopped offering zillow 3d tours in 2023. Zillow is cut throat and does not care about destroying your RE Photo business or your issues with Zillow. Yes 3d home is free, but nothing in life is really free.....

You missed one cool feature. When Zillow scrapes MLS for the listing photos, they will add them to the interactive floor plan and place the photos on floor plan where they were taken and even show the direction they are facing. Very slick. My clients have really liked that feature

I learned that after I posted my first plan...they use AI and it works pretty darn good,. Since it's free - it's the only option I currently offer for floor plans and 360's....no brainer so far.

It only supports iPhone since it has to be done through the app itself

Perfect timing! I just ordered a 360 camera yesterday! One question (don't think I heard you cover in this or the other video): do you somehow edit out the camera in rooms with unavoidable mirrors, like the bathroom)? If so, it'd be cool to see how you do that. Thanks as always for all the value you provide on this channel!

Thanks! No I do not. It’s not possible to do any editing of the image. I try to avoid mirrors if I can but if I get the camera in one I don’t sweat it whatsoever. It’s just the nature of the beast.

Very helpful, Mike, thank you! Fast question -- I see that the floor plan includes closets. Do you include them on your shoots with your camera, or does Zillow automatically add them?

Many of the homes I work in don’t have WI-FI. Do you use Bluetooth to connect your Theta to your phone? I would appreciate more instruction on this topic since there isn’t much on the internet about it.

thanks for this. two things . My app automatically sets my theta X to a 5 second delay. After watching your video you must have edited that out because I set my delay to off but zillow puts it back on. ALSO on a 2 story house can you go from the bottom shot in front of the steps directly to the next landing? or do you have to take a shot on the steps. ALSO I imagine you would change to 2nd floor BEFORE taking the first 2nd floor shot?

I’m not sure about the 5 second delay, never experienced that. Mine is off by default and was never on. Maybe it has to do with the theta x? Not sure. I always do at least one scan on the stairs. Once you reach the top landing, yes, change it to second floor before scanning.

how do u remove tripod or can u download the photo for retouch?

Do you have to manage camera settings/exposure for each scan or is that handled automatically by their app? If not managed by the app what camera settings do you select for camera operation and aperture to get started?

Nope, it’s all done automatically and doesn’t allow you to control any aspect of your image as far as exposure or anything. I don’t mess with any camera settings whatsoever. Just connect camera to app and start shooting.

It’s only compatible with the Ricoh line of cameras. Yes, tours are automatically connected.

Mike, So it is official Zillow is hiring photographers to compete with us in REP, through their showingtime platform. Do you see Zillow making this 3D option/MLS boost a competitive advantage only available to their in house photographers?

Hey man! I doubt they will do that being they want widespread use of these products in order to inspire loyalty to and favoring of their platform. They want agents to do this stuff themselves even. I don’t think they care about photographers at all whether it be their own or otherwise. All they care about is being the #1 online real estate market place and everything they do is in line with that priority.

Are you able to edit the pictures before they're added in the floor plan? I don't want to see shadows and mirror reflections of the camera. Cheers.

No you can’t. This is a free service that’s pretty basic. Not a whole lot you can do in that regard.

No, I don’t believe so!

Looked everywhere on Zllow's site to find the marker and never did find it. I know I can use a plain sheet of paper but the marker would be better.

Do you have to level the camera with a leveling head?

You can eyeball it. Of course the more level the better but as long as it’s in the ballpark.
