cool video, but I really wanted you to explain which modes you use for each shot. The modes are what are confusing me. You mentioned you used the "lock" mode with the side tracking shot, but you didn't mention the modes used for the other shots. I'd love to hear more a detailed explanation on this. Thanks!

Hi, I am using the Lite follow focus motor. I never pull focus while tracking someone. I set the foucs point and try to keep the same distance while tracking. I always shoot with manual foucus. Autofocus is not good on the GH5. For sony or canon you can use it.

In which mode of the gimbal can I do the Parrallax shot? In Pan Follow mode?

Hi nice thanks for the tips. Is it necessary to walk on ninja walk with the gimbal? I shoot long walks and I thought the gimbal would do the job but I see some jitter on my footage. I used to shoot with OM4 and iphone and didn't have those issues. Now i'm shooting with GH5S and Leica 8-18mm Lens. Do you have any advices you could give me? Regards!

getting good gimbal shots in slowmotion is pretty easy, getting clean results in 24p is the challenge :)

Thank you Peter, I still have problems understanding how the gimbal works. I understand the gimbal moves but which gimbal modes are you using for which move? At one point you are talking about using the lock mode. But in the lock mode, all three motors are locked, meaning they don´t work at all. Doesn´t that mean that the gimbal is like a monopod? If the motors don´t work than it´s not a gimbal anymore, isn´t it? There are 5 different modes in the Weebil S. Which mode is the best for which move? That is a crucial question for me.

Hi Bernd, I got a online gimbal course comming up, this could be very helpfull for you, but the lock mode, locks the position of the gimbal, so no matter what way you turn it it will point in the direction you locked it at.

Hi Peter. Thank you so much for making this video. I got the Weebill - S and having a hard time getting better results out of it than my Flycam. I am pretty sure my settings are wrong never having owned a Gimbal, I dont know how to fine tune it. they are mostly shot in PF. the shot form the side is shot in LOCK.

what if you want to side track and orbit the subject at the same time? the lock mode can't change the shooting direction

if you want to sidetrack and orbit, I would turn the gimbal and use it en PF, then track the subject. I hope I understod you question correctly.

@@Edge-dy9fh Yes, the transmitter is extra, I just recived one for test the other day, and was egar to test the tracking function, but there where no hdmi mini to hdmi in the box. So no test of the transmitter right now.

Peter Makholm Da jeg købte den, var det planen at jeg skulle bruge min IPhone X som skærm, via Image transmitteren. Men den er jeg godt nok ikke, specielt imponeret over. Jeg syntes den er meget ustabil, og giver ikke et særlig godt billede. Om jeg har sat det forkert op 🤔 det kan jeg ikke umiddelbart se, så jeg overvejer lige nu, om jeg skal smide en ekstern monitor på.

Peer Jønson du skal helt klart bruge en extern monitor som er conected med kameratet direkte. Wireless systemet er alt for ustabilt til at det kan bruges som extern skærm.

How do you center or bring back to center the weebill S gimbal? In my Moza Air @ I just click the trigger twice and it resets the gimball to the center position. I haven't found how to do that in the Weebill. When I click the trigger twice it just reset the Tilt but not the pan.

When you double click the trigger, the gimbal re-center. If it doesn’t, there is something wrong.

Hey. You have to put the gimbal in Lock mode. Then you can pan as well.

Thanks for all your tips & just sub’d. I shoot with a A7iii - so 30fps in 4K is best I get for slow mo (for 4K) but edit in a 24p timeline via fcpx. Everything is 24p when I bring it in, however, I like having the option to slow footage down 20% so I don’t lose frames, especially when I have a wobble (I’m a rookie). Am I losing quality shooting 30p then editing in a 24p timeline (the way fcpx automatically turns your footage to 24p, no matter how you Shot it if that’s the project profile you’ve chosen). Thanks and excellent video. 👍

To shoot in 30fps is a great way to get a more smooth feel of your video when editing in a 24fps timeline. I like the look because it is not full slow-mo. It gives it more of a dreamy look and feel. No, you won't loos image quality as long as your timeline is 4k 24fps in FCPX. Remember to export i 4k as well.

Good work, liked how you showed the example footage and then how you used the gimbal to get it. I was a little surprised that you recommend switching IBIS off. Brandon Li says he leaves it on. He shoots with Sony so maybe it makes a difference what camera you use.

Thanks. Yes I know that many leaves the IBIS on, but i find that I get the best footage when turned off. This might be something I got form using a gliecam. Think of it like this, the gimbal does everything it can to keep you camera stable, and if the IBIS in the camera sudenly tries to corret for any movement you can get some wierd wobbely footage you can't get rid of in post. Then i rather have some mico gitters that can be corrected in post.

@@PeterMakholm I agree with your logic. the only Gimbal I have used, is a GoPro Karma grip. GoPro disable the camera stabilisation when you plug it into gimbal. I would think lens stabilisation would help though. I am looking at the weebill for my Fuji Xt-3 which doesn't have IBIS anyway.

Yes, there you see that is the reason the GoPro let's the gimbal do the stabilisation. I think the weebill S is a great for the xt3. I am just blown away of how great this little gimbal is to work with.

As a total newbie to video and gimbal use, (have been asked to do for real estate showings) I would love a REALLY basic Gimbal for dummies type of tutorial, and haven't yet found one on KZread, never mind a Weebil S version!! Thankfully, you've got lots, shown me how to balance the camera and then some of the more advanced stuff, but to be honest, I don't even know what modes I should be using, and when I try playing with them, the camera seems to have a mind of its own.... what would be the most basic lesson you have for beginners please?

For realestate Try to do some real basic push in and push out shots. Do the motion nice and steady. Us a wide angel lens. and shoot some rooms form mulitple angles so you have options to choose form later. It should work by auto tune it. but I would try to adjust some of the motor settings to se if it could do the trick. I talked to another collegue here the other day and they also had problems with the BMPC 4K. I had a S1H on resently whit no problems, so it should be able to handle the BMPC 4K.

Sujan K yeah exactly. It does not just balance by it self. You got to press auto tune in the menu. It is not super obvious.

Silly question: did you use several lenses or, instead, you used a single lens for all your wide and medium and tight shot and change it on post? For example, if shots were on 4k and convert it to HD. Thank you in advance and great video.

I used the same lens 10-25mm on the gh5. But you coud also crop in and adjust framing in post when shot i 4k. Andy you can exprot in HD.

I just bought a weebill s a few weeks ago. In your opinion is it better to use a prime wide angle lens to get most of the shots to help keep things in focus. Or use a variety of lens with a slower f-stop. I don't want to pull focus if I don't have to.

I would always go for the prime lens if I had the choise. I like to shoot with a lower f-stop to get some bokeh but it compends on what i am filming. is it an event or a short film. It all comes down to how you want to tell you story.

Videos toph No it is just a quick release plate. But on the weebill lab you have less space. So it can’t fit on there.

Hi there Peter. Hi have this Weebill S I just don't understand why my shot bounces as if the gimbal is not that reactive or not compensating the movement (side and forward roll). I already have an idea how it should behave because I have an Osmo+, shot is so smooth. My shots using Glidecam is way better than using weebill s. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

It might be because you have to tweak the custom settings. I did not like the movement of the gimbal using the auto tune. If you watch my Weebill S setup video i have my custom settings displayed in there try that out. and make sure that all axes are balanced. By the way I like the look of my glidecam shots better the the gimbal shots.

Hi, Yes it is shot i 60fps and slowed down to 40% on a 24fps timeline.

This is a great video. Thanks for all the tips. I use GH5S with a 12-35 lens on my Weebill-S. I set the motor torque, selecting "auto" in the menu but I get jitters very noticeable in my footages compared to old Zhiyun Crane I had before (bought about 3 years ago). To me Weebill-S is too stiff compared to old Crane? Is it because the Weebill-S's motors are too strong? I think I had much smoother footages with older Zhiyun. Do I need to set the motor torque lower? Your advice would be highly appreciated.

Hi, great setup with the 12-35 on GH5S. I can highly recomend the 10-25mm lens. But your issue can be adjusted in the settigs, I also had micro jitters when using the auto tune. @@PeterMakholm Zhiyun has released a firmware V1.92 and I have upgraded my Zhiyun Weebill-S firmware. It looks like the zitters I had on the roll axis are gone now. Very smooth even with my GH5S.

I shoot a lot of high-end Real Estate and use it on everyone. Super lightweight, and I can adjust the ND filter with my thumb because I hook up the follow focus to it. Works like a charm.

I have an issue with vortex mode I can't figure out with my Sony, when it spins it doesn't do a vortex even though the camera is spinning. It's like the camera auto corrects the footage?

@@PeterMakholm Actually, i'm an idiot and didn't even playback the footage, I was strictly going off the viewfinder lmao. I got too excited setting up this gimbal today that I totally overlooked playing the footage back!

Turn control with smartphone off. Switch from mass storage to PC. Then pick canon instead of Sony for the camera on the gimbal. You can record & change settings, but shuts off ibs . I know. It’s weird.

The only thing is, about IBIS, the GH5 has horrible wobble because of the IBIS. You won't have that issue on all cameras. So people really need to try it and see if they have that issue or not.

@@billem16 I think it become jittery especially when u tilt it down and then do a pan ..... as for the V mode, I can only rotate it when the camera is facing the sky ...

Gimbal never level hôintal despite re calibration ,need adjust angle 1-2 degree

No worries mate. I had same problemo. all you have to do is to go in to the menu: scrool down to angle: select ROLL, and adjust your angle. I had tu adjust mine to -0.75

The whole vide is shot on the Leica 10-25mm. the lens on the gimbal in the video is the 8.18mm. I use the 10-25mm 90% of the time. Its a really great lens.

All ur tuts are amazing. But i have a complain with all the youtubers talking about gimbals. Why dont you show the potential on 24 fps. Whivh we all target the gimbal moves at. Every video is not about 60 fps. Filmmaking is about 24 fps where we all do mistakes. Shots dont look smooth. Lets talk about real world challenges not some strawberry 🍓 world slowmos 😭😭 Example: trying to pan gimbal to the left side in pf mode while keeping it near to the surface of the ground,tracking the subject and then moving it on upper level, at at certain level gimbal with suddenly jerk so bad that that one take shot is ruined entirely. Talk about this. I have never seen anyone talking about this thing. These tutorials are cool for basics but as soon as you try advanced movements pairing it with 2 types of shots every gimbal fails terribly. No one talks about it. Its sad. Only high end systems like TRINITY achieve those shots.

I bought Zhiyun Weebill S my 1st gimbal and having hard time to use with canon 6D 24-105 kit lens and even with canon 50 MM lens it's not compatible with 6d my friend use Sony mirror less then gimbal respond much better then canon 6d...DSLR use pls don't buy Zhiyun Weebill S mirror less go ahead...

India's (kerala)sales weebill s full complaint. Software not good

I haven had any software issues. We had 12 weebill s going for a gimbal event yesterday. We did not have any issues. we ran them with gh5, canon 5d & sony A73 cameras.
