Zhang Wuji is the fictional protagonist of the wuxia novel The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber by Jin Yong.
This is the last part of The Trilogy Condor Heroes which began with Legend of the Condor Heroes and continued in Return of the Condor Heroes. Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre took place nearly 100 years after the events of Return of the Condor Heroes in a China ruled by the Mongolian Yuan Dynasty.
Legend said that whoever obtains the Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Saber can rule the world. Zhang Wuji was orphaned at a young age by schemes to discover secrets of these two weapons. Despite his preference to live a non-violent life, Wuji found himself embroiled in the struggles for power and must fight to save himself and others he loves...
Zhang Wuji has a more complicated personality as compared to Guo Jing and Yang Guo. He possesses less heroic traits than them and has an equal balance of strengths and weaknesses. The presence of these humanly traits in him makes him more realistic as compared to the other two protagonists in the Condor Trilogy. Zhang Wuji's personality is strongly influenced by social factors and the people around him. He is often placed in situations in which he has no other choice but to adapt to. He has no chance of escaping from harsh reality.
His relationships with his four love interests Zhao Min, Zhou Zhiruo, Xiaozhao and Yin Li are extremely complicated. He is very hesitant and indecisive on who his true love is. Apparently, he loves Zhao Min the most and makes that clear to Zhou Zhiruo at the end of the novel. However, one can really speculate whether, deep inside his heart, he really knows who his true love.

One of my favorite Chinese wuxia drama. This is in line with The Handsome Siblings, and Word of Honor

I really enjoy watch this movie. The fight is so intense and so good. Zheng ShunXi is very talented and also so cute. Very recomended!

I heard from my father that this show was not the first remake. I knew that this drama was gonna be fucking epic. Watched this about as many times as I have watched insanely good anime fights like Goku and Frieza vs Jiren and Naruto and Sasuke vs Momoshiki

this is the final series in a trillogy. all the other dramas before it are way more epic. Legend of the condor heroes , return of the condor of the condor heroes and this one. the prequel to all these is semi devils and demi gods. watch all the latest versions

@Kaneidare Yu yeah.... basically this fighting scene is sux, more focus on graphic and slow motion, this zhang wu ji not even show he know kungfu, just swing here and there, the art of kung fu is not there, he is not kungfu based actor.... abit fartup!

Maybe you have to wait 5 years or more for this series because this is the last series in the triliogy condor heroes novel. starting from The Legend of the Condor Heroes (Kwee Ceng/Guo Jing), The Return of the Condor Heroes (Yo Ko/Yang Guo), then The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber (Thio Boe Ki / Zhang Wuji). But don't be sad because series The Return of the Condor Heroes will be released, although not knowing exactly when

Call me old school, but I think Jet Li in Kungfu Cult Master nailed this scene better with the fight choreography

Agree. Too bad it did not cover the whole story and no one seems to care about its continuation. Do you realize that people who have that movie as the only reference to Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber would believe Xiaoqiao is lead female while Zhaomin is just a passerby?

Complaining about camera work, and then citing 2003 is a bit weird. I liked 2003, but damn near every story driven shot is a closeup on their faces throughout most of the series. Always closeups. It gets old really fast.
it be cool to see Wu Ji use two fingers to pinch off the tip of a long sword to use the broken blade bit like a throwing knife to throw at the enemy.
