A very interesting video: GM Prof Yu Yong Nian always said Yiquan is Xingyi. Wang Xiang Zhai (WXZ) (I understand) was Guo Yun Shen's (GYS) nephew. He trained with Guo for around 5 years before GYS died. At that time WXZ was around 14 years old. It is highly likely he continued his training with GYS senior student/s however I understand GYS wanted him to carry the mantle for XY. There were many political machinations going on at the time Yiquan was developed and Traditional Chinese Martial Arts were outlawed until around 1978, many steadfast Sifu of TCMA were beheaded and their knowledge lost. It is entirely possible that Yiquan was developed to protect the knowledge of XY from being lost like so many others. WXZ was quite high up in the political world and in developing this 'New' style probably saved his life too - I would suggest. The history of Chinese martial arts is fascinating but often incomplete due to the lack of accurate history being written down or otherwise manipulated for various reasons - this is true all over the world and not just in China. I would urge all practitioners of Yiquan, if not learning another Internal art at the same time to learn Xingyi and see the roots of Yiquan for themselves and understand where it came from. The similarities and the aspects taken out. Just my thoughts.

"Traditional Chinese Martial Arts were outlawed until around 1978, many steadfast Sifu of TCMA were beheaded and their knowledge lost." Many people like to make this claim, but none has ever managed to prove it. Can you name a few of these masters who were beheaded?

This is very much like what M Cheuk Fung in San Francisco does. He explains clearly what hunyuan strength is. He talks about a particular state of mind. Unfortunately there's nobody around here where I live that could teach real stuff. Many years ago I discovered Zhan Zhuang through a book of M Lam Kam Chuen. But he says to stand still. Years later when I was living in France I had a workshop with an Yi Chuan teacher. He also told us to stand still, at the beginning, but later you move on with visualizations and movement. So I guess the first stage is to endure the silliness and pains to reinforce the structure and tendons, actually become aware of the tendons force and in the same time relaxing into it .That's done by standing still for at least 30-40 minutes in a row, in different stances. Then moving on with tougher stances, lower lpositions and so on. Correct me if I'm wrong please. Can we actually start doing little movements and visualisation since the beginning? Recently I've seen a video from The Martial Man where he was interviewing who seemed to be a shaolin monk, about zhan zhuang. He was saying that you can't increase your qi, you can only become aware of it. Strange statement!!!

His understanding of the art is almost exactly that of mine. Through the auspices of Canada Yiquan Society (on Facebook), I wrote a book on the "internals" of these arts last year, going into depth what is seldom taught and little known.

@Ling Seto thanks for the upload, Is there a second part to this video? Don't you find that this master looks rather tense in his performance of the various standing postures & movements? & pardon me, what is the title of your Book? is it for sale?

Hi Carlos, you can google my name and you will find the book. It was written with advanced students of the internal arts in mind. The book talks about everything that is internal, using Yiquan as a "backdrop". I did not upload this video. That was somebody else. I do agree that the man is too tense; it need not be so. A while back I tried to say where the book can be purchased. The post was taken down. So now you know why the post is written the way it is.

Some very interesting facts but he also is somehow lost in the understanding and practice of the whole concept which should evolve around "feeding the tendons" and not focusing on muscle power at all, which again is what he does when relying solely on his muscles to move. The centre part of it relies on the development of the "autonomic" nervous system which will direct your matter by collapsing waves into matter, not feed the blood and muscles which become now collateral or end recipients of the energy work. Emptiness, calibrating mind and body through visualisation , and connection to the outside "unified"field wil do the work without you having to worry about it. He doesn't really allow it by going constantly on mind over matter control over his tiny uncoordinated movements, and flexing his knees too low, disengaging from the whole body....ect..

It's hunyuan li, the global power. Muscle and tendons move toghether. It's both internal and external power.

Literally these statements contradict master wangs writings and teachings. This video is from the branch from the Yao lineage. The man who taught Yao, Han xing Qiao, he felt very differently about yiquan. Han is the creator of the fist dance and the health dance, the adopted son of Wang and the creator of the yang sheng gong health preservation method. There is no empty standing post. You are full of motion and life feeling. It’s so hard to watch. It’s just completely backwards.
