I think they’re giving him a break. I think he shows up in the background, but I feel like Sun would fight for humanity, not just because Buddha terrifies him, but because in Journey to the West, he represent aspects of humanity. Also he has a long, proud history of messing with gods.

Not a gate. That's the Buddhist equivalent of a halo. It just means he's flexing his godly power.

Why? Zero completely turned down Buddha’s advice and continued to try to force humans to be happy. Zero completely failed as a student of possibly the wisest man in history. Why wouldn’t Buddha despise zero after he took him completely for granted?
