I have really enjoyed him, couldnt be happier. He is a Redbone, through and through. He has personality for days. Sorry for your loss. The only time dogs break our hearts is when they die.

Now on the north! We live in the North shore of Chicago. 2000 Miles in two days to pick him up. Worth it.

OMG. My redbone coon hound female barks at everything. We used to live in the country and she loved chasing everything especially cars. She got hit by a truck and lived with 3 fractures in the pelvis and a few scars I can still see. Now we moved to a neighborhood which has a lot less space because now they r confined in the backyard. My redbone coon hound mix will not stop barking at everyone and everything. I bought a bark collar with a sound and vibration and if needed shock probably won’t use shock tho. It’s to help keep her safe from the neighbors. I feel like they r going to poison my dogs and I would hate that.

I had to move to a shock collar. He is allowed to howl and bark at certain cues, but he was making a habit of yelling at us. I had to get over using the shock collar. He doesn't mind it, it's just to break their concentration. You have to follow it up with training.

Redbone are very high drive hunting dogs. It's probably necessary to control the dog if it sees other animals, it's literally their instinct. I've fostered 3 Redbones and though I love them, they're a serious dog and a serious handful. We almost kept one because she was amazing but she was aggressive towards our cats(dangerously). That being said, she was super smart and trainable though very stubborn.

@@jdefabs2112Exactly this. He can pull people right off their feet on a walk if he wants to go after something. That collar helps him from pulling anyone walking to the ground. That is very real, and I am a large man, and so is my son, and he can clean our clocks. He is meant to be low, and its just physics after that. That being said, we live in dog Utopia, or so I believe. We have 4 off leash forest preserve dog parks that are acres and acres big, with lakes, rivers, and fields, all within 20 minutes. We are there at least 4 days a week, usually 5-6, sometimes daily. You are right, he is a serious dog, and seriously strong. He doesn't wear it all the time.
