I rarely use kitchen towels and instead use Sochang dishcloth.
It's been over a year since I haven't bought any kitchen towels.
Before the Chuseok holiday, EcoFresh suggested a collaboration, so after some consideration, we ended up collaborating.

Because this is how I practice zero waste in the kitchen.
I raised my two children with Sochang Fabric cloth diapers and am still using Sochang dishcloths.
Therefore, I think there is no need to say more about Ganghwa Sochang dishcloth as it is a product that everyone has known since ancient times.
‘Sochang’ is the local name of Ganghwa Island and a traditional specialty cotton fabric of this region, and the fabric is also called ‘Sochang’.
‘Sochang’ is 100% pure cotton, so it is a safe and eco-friendly material that can be used as a diaper/cotton sanitary pad.
Sochang fabric is an eco-friendly material that contains no microplastics, making it a zero-waste product that returns to nature when disposed of as waste.
They are not factory-printed dishcloths, but are 100% handmade and differentiated by meticulous finishing by craftsmen and thick thickness. Even the stitching threads are made non-fluorescent, giving them the name ‘real dishcloths.’
In order to focus on the essence of the product, we did not add any labels that could be problematic due to fluorescent substances, but I had more confidence in the fact that it showed the natural appearance as it is.
The ‘real dishcloth’, the Sochang dishcloth that I am introducing today, is different from regular dishcloths because it is well-ventilated, so it has less odor and generates less dust and bacteria.
As you know, Sochang dishcloth must go through a process called ‘refining.’
It's a grandiose word, but to put it simply, it means taming the fabric by removing the corn starch in the fabric.
If you boil the corn right away without removing the starch, the starch from the weaving process will be deeply absorbed, making it stiff and less absorbent. (Even if you add bicarbonate of soda, it doesn’t help)
The more you use Sochang dishcloth, the better its absorbency and the softer it becomes.
In the video, you will see me frequently rubbing the Sochang dishcloth between my hands.
Usually, it is thought that it has to go through the scouring process three or more times to be soft, but this real dishcloth had a nice and soft texture even after just one scouring process.
I used Sochang dishcloth before, but I knew right away after refining that it was real, so I highly recommend it.
Let me tell you about the really good things about real dishcloth.
First, it is 100% handmade, made with meticulous care by craftsmen.
Second, the more you use regular dishcloths, the more dust and bacteria they generate, but Sochang Fabric's real dishcloths generate less dust and bacteria and become softer the more you use them.
* Refining process (How to use)
① Put a real dishcloth in hot water and soak it for at least 1 hour to remove the loose corn.
② Boil a real dishcloth in boiling water for at least 10 minutes.
(If you want to bleach, add percarbonate soda and boil for more than 30 minutes.)
③ Rinse thoroughly and dry in the sun. (If you rinse with citric acid, it will be neutralized and make it softer.)
* Tip: Simple refining (taming) method
① Soak in hot water for at least 1 hour.
② Put soda percarbonate into the detergent compartment of the washing machine and run it once on the standard cycle.
