No you can't go by local transport. You have to hire a cab from Srinagar. It can cost you about 15-18k for a 2-3 days return trip to Gurez.
Yesterday we had been their.. No snow is their.. very low snow is available

Yes now snow is melted. You should plan in December to May for full snow activities.

@@ranjanbasu7178 Leh srinagar highway can be compared with any expressway around India. Infact last month a group of tourists commented that the leh-srinagar highway is better than Mumbai roads.

Zero point tak pony nahi jaata. Video mein humne bataya hain ki cab jaati Hain wahan tak. Please video poori dekha karo. Half knowledge se phir problems aati Hain tourists ko.

Sir, we have planned a day trip from Srinagar to Sonmarg. Can you suggest which places to visit and which to skip. So far we have planned to visit only Thajiwas Glacier by trek and return, is this a good plan or if we can modify this and include other places as well? And shall we take the cab for local sightseeing, will it be worth it?

There is no local sightseeing except zero point and zojilla pass. If you go to thajiwas glacier there won't be anytime left for other places. So maximum you can do is either thajiwas or zero point. Thajiwas glacier by trek is good idea hope you are physically fit and used to trekking coz otherwise you are going to skip it half ways same like me.
