Thanks for sharing the history of the 2 models. Who would have guessed that the Defy may have influenced Gerald Genta to design the Royal Oak. Another model that offers great value and is similar to both watches is the Girard Perregaux Laureato.

Audemars "Piaget"?

I'd buy a Defy because I wanted a Defy, and don't care about the AP. I purchased my JLC from Shreves in fact. While no longer in Boston, I may contact them for the Defy!

I learned so much from this video! I'll be looking out to see who is wearing what when I see a steel watch now 👀

Great review. I would also love to see you throw in a third contender, the GP Laureto. Another AP RO alternative that has the right history, looks great, and is readily available. Please do this review with all 3 watches!

For the price difference ,yes Zenith is the way to go.

I personally love the Defy for what it is and imo it’s one of the best if not the best watch at its price

Yes, if you can't pronounce the name correctly, just go with the initials (AP, JLC).

It's crazy that a steel Royal Oak or the Nautilus cost a much as they do, at this price even a gold Rolex seem like a bargain. Since the market is what it is when even Rolex cost is expensive Zenith and JLC have alot to offer for a good price.

To be fair you should compare the AP 15500 movement to the new Zenith, as that AP movement is actually the new one and far superior then the 15400 one. And yes, you need to practice your French 😊

How does the ZENITH DEFY SKYLINE wear on the wirst. I hope bigger then 41mm? I have 8" wrist. The Defy is a beautiful watch for the money but second hand is maybe too much rotations for me. It makes the watch a bit busy. I would also liked " Defy skyline" text on the bottom of the dial. Thanks.

Awesome review my brother. Had both. The Royal Oak chrono panda, and the Defy Classic Skeleton.I still have the Zenith as It wears much better and especially in titanium. The endlinks of the Royal Oak 41mm flare out too far for my 18cm wrist.
