Some people don't like pets. So long as they're not going out of their way to harm a small creature, it shouldn't matter. I don't like being around dogs. Puppies are included. I do like cats and kittens. I'd likely ignore the puppies in a setting like this because I don't care for them too much. Where as my mamaw was terrified of cats [including kittens] and hated them. But she liked dogs.
