Zen: Intergalactic Ninja - The BEST looking game on the NES | Cannot be Tamed

Ойындар

Today I'm reviewing a late release from Konami that's based on a comic book. This game looks great and has so much variety. It's Zen: Intergalactic Ninja.
#NES #Konami #ZenIntergalacticNinja
Zen: Intergalactic Ninja was played on a Retron5 and recorded on a AVerMedia Live Gamer Portable 2 Plus. Music comes from the game soundtrack.

Love this game! This was one of my original NES games from when I was little, believe it or not. A good old former rental from Blockbuster. This has always been a favorite of mine and very high on my NES great hidden gems list. The graphics are amazing, the music is kickass and once you figure out what to do, becomes a very fun one to play. The toxic factory stage took me forever to figure out when I was a kid as far as the gameplay went (i.e. the jumps) but I eventually figured out what to do. I still have a couple of issues of the comic book as well.

I find it interesting there are so many high quality late NES releases. This was release a year and a half after the SNES and the evidence suggests that they didn't sell that well. If you compare with similar points in the lifespan of the Playstation, PS2, or Wii the games that were being released this far past the beginning of the next gen were mostly shovel ware. I can assume that's because it became so much easier to most a game in development to the next generation in the 3D era of gaming. It might also be that the NES was far more sticky than the modern consoles in enough markets. That certainly happened with some other systems, like the amazingly long lifespan of the Master System in Brazil.

I actually owned this as a kid. Well, the Game Boy port, anyway. The Game Boy version of this actually played like a Game Boy Megaman game--you could take on the stages and bosses in any order you choose (but they don't give you any special weapons or powers), Zen could "charge" his weapon and release a blast, and could even slide like Mega Man.

I loved this game as a kid! I'd read the archie comics series (which some of the game cutscenes take directly from the comic panels), so it was a pretty exciting moment when I found this at the rental shop. Unfortunately, I don't think the character was ever too popular here, since I was the only one in my class who had heard of him, and our local walmart and kaybee's never got the action figures in stock in our area. On a sidenote, I think the difficulty selection affects the speed of the falling spiked ceiling stage as I remember having quite the time with that section on a hard difficulty playthrough. It could be I was just having terrible luck that day as well, lol.

I thought you said she did it at three and was collecting myself. But its great to show kids the classics first, that way modern graphics don't poison the well. My nephew really loves the classic NES library. Thiugh I started him with Dragonball Advanced.

I never paid any attention to the Game Boy version of this before, but just from the couple seconds that was shown it's pretty obviously running the same engine as the TMNT GB games, which I loved... I'm gonna have to check that one out

This is easily one of the best games on the platform. It has a lot of variety in its gameplay. Each main level is different with different objectives. How many other games did that on the platform? Probably none. The sound music and design are insane. Toxic rain forest theme is probably my favourite ost on the NES overall. It’s epic!

Zen: Intergalactic Ninja was one of my favorite games when i was a kid. Hard mode makes game much hurder)) Enemies inflict more damage, you have less time in time-based missons etc. Final boss on hard mode really nasty.

Never heard of this game but it definitely looks interesting. It came out 2 years after I was born. For it's time, it seems to be slightly innovative in a few ways. Minigames, different camera angles, interesting game mechanics like zen. There's most likely other nes games that played with the same mechanics but this one looks like a bundle of interesting game ideas. It sucks when someone puts a shit load of work into a game and it never gets properly noticed. Badass video, P!
