@7:40 they are banned cause it was used to stall, people do it half assed with no real intent to throw just to force the opponent to sprawl so they can turtle and wait for a reset. They do this usually when they are up by points or what in BJJ is called an advantage. In the BJJ context non ippon stalling take downs are great cause there's no ippon win condition, and you can use it to continue into your ground game as you said about throwing them down face first. Belt grips and same side grips are not forbidden. You just can't use it to ... again you guessed it... stall. You have to keep attacking if you have those grips. All you have to do is watch any current judo tournaments and you'll see georgian grips, russian ties and belt grips being used all the time. Nobody will make stalling calls in your typical dojo doing randori sparring, you can hold the belt grip for as long as you want and same side grip for as long as you want. The IJF ref won't descend upon the heavens into your club to slap you in the face if you do so during training. Everything you showed in this video other than grabbing the leg is commonly taught and done in competition. You also have to keep in mind the stalling only works for many of those examples due to some judo's ruleset such as no standing arm locks which is a relatively new change due to injury statistics. If you apply it to a BJJ ruleset... a lot of them won't work cause if you use that to stall the arm locks and wrist locks are allowed in BJJ ruleset.

Awsome stuff... and the wrestling for Judo is awsome IMHO. I cut my teeth in judo when leg attacks were legal. It was a different game. Judo is a great sport and you really nailed it with bad Judo. Name it and it becomes real !! I have heard of combat Judo: are some of these grips leagal in combat Judo?
