Zen and the Art of Scything

I have just learned to scythe so goodbye to the smelly strimmer! Scything is like a meditation - you go with the flow and lose yourself in the repetitive motion.

Wonderful to see a new convert to the scythe. I am 77 this year and still work with the scythe every year. Now teaching my grandsons how to work the meadows. Cheers and blessings from Canada

I really need to get one of those! It looks like a lot of fun. It's a great workout for sure. I won't cut my grass because I don't want to hurt anything living in the grass ( actually it is about 30% grass and 70% everything else 😂) I wonder where I could get one in England? Thanks Terri for yet more inspiration ❤

I watched your video where you used the cutting rake on your garden. I'm not sure which to purchase now, the scythe or the bladed rake. I need to cut down rhe growth in our yards but always hated the noise and smell of the motorized devices. Thank you for showing us your scythe, Terri.

When growing up I remember watching my Dad use his Scythe & thinking he must be the most skilled user of anyone. (not that I saw anyone else use one) He would sway back and forth in the most rhythmic motion, never a hiccup. I so wanted to ask him if I could give it a try but I knew he would say no. He most likely thought it could be a danger to me but also he was a bit of an impatient person so I didn't want to get scolded. It's a good memory anyway. 🙂

Terri, I always look forward to your new videos, as you said, it takes me back to my childhood, watching the men and boys out working the fields while I ran around barefoot in the tall grass of the fields. ❤

Dear Terri, thanks for this Video with all my Heart! Here on my ground in hungary the tractorist killed 2 does with a Mulch mower tractor. IT was a Drama. Consequently i considered for the Future straw mulching to make mowing altogether unnecessary. Then also Markus Burghard, a well-known gardener from Austria, suggested mowing with a skythe or a Beam mower (Hope IT IS the fitting Word in english). I shall ask him to send me such an austrian skythe with a Bush blade, because i also am Not very strong, i mean, No Herkules. Terri, you did a good Thing to Produce this Video. I also hate the stiehl device with ITS noise and the danger to kill animals.
