The use of Harry Potter to show the Buddha's teachings is brilliant. This could be so wonderful in the 5th and 6th grades in schools. Blessings to you for showing up in your ill body. A wonderful talk. Endless Blessings 🙏💞

Thank you for this wonderful teaching! 🙏 I’m a Harry Potter fan and while I’ve always enjoyed the author’s talent at embedding deeper meaning throughout the books, I’ve never made these parallels myself. I’ll be reading with new eyes….and I’ll see new magic this time ❤

Sister, you are my light 💡❤ I’ve been struggling, ever since I learned of the teaching of no self… I need to explain that the teaching of no self is not the next idea to become attached to, that the attchment to the idea of no self is actually the ego which is producing this concept, the same part of the mind consciousness that initiates the idea of a separate self. So I guess the question is, what is left? Self, no self, not no self… and not no self just means nirvana in a sense, that is to say that what cannot be and what can be are also part of the same system of thinking. Therefore letting go must be deeply practiced with ultimate concentration. But what do we know what to let go of First let go of idea of self Then let go of idea of no self Then let go of idea of no non self But in the beginning These were all just words; which I comprehend with some mental effort, but only was it that I started looking deeper into impermanence is when I realized that impermanence is no self. Space and time both present in the same location all over the earth, no time zones no space zones just ultimate awareness of life of existence of manifestation in all directions that we are familiar with. The dual grasping nature of mind to want to exist separate from itself! The certain part of consciousness that says “this is mine because this is me” I’m not sure how to completely transform this consciousness into mirror wisdom, but I have experienced on quite a few brief occasions which have ultimately led me to be much more deeply in tuned with Mother Earth

Dear Sister D. My sister who is most dear to me supported Trump during the first election and she has been diabetic since she was 3. I was 2 when she was diagnosed and although I don’t remember it losing her has also been my biggest fear. I don’t ask about Trump because I don’t want to fight but I pray she has come to her senses. So many people are fooled by that evil man. I hope you can all get out and vote. I have learned so much from you. I have a dog who is 13 and a half and when she passes away I really want to do a winter retreat in New York. But until then I will breathe. You are so loved Sister D. Thank you so much for your talk tonight. You brightened my mind.

There is so much value in this talk. Remembering to practice love and compassion for everyone, remembering this includes ourselves, and most of all remembering that our own fears color our perceptions of others. We may have wrong views of others because of our past. This is deeply important in our world more than ever. I am also reminded of the fifth mindfulness training on nourishment and healing, which reminds us to look deeply into all things we consume. We take in many things, many of these things we take in have good seeds, bad seeds, and surely neutral seeds as well. The things we take in also cannot be fully separated from the world, the people, and the experiences which generated them. When we consume we must use our mindfulness carefully I am also reminded that mindful speech is important. If we are not careful we shall increase the suffering in ourselves and others with our speech. Dear Sister Đẳng Nghiêm is a master at this Remember that other beings are not our enemies, but the afflictions we suffer from are the root problem.

Thank you so much sister D. As ever sister D has shared an intensely personal Dharma talk . When she opens up her heart and shows her suffering ,it helps the world to heal and our dear sister too. Thay's wisdom speaks through her maturity, sister D is a most beloved senior sister in the sangha , who has the 'magical' mindful skills of compassion and insight and even though she was sick , she was diligently delivered an inspiring and insightful talk . Much love and most grateful thanks from the UK . We wish you a very speedy recovery 🙏 ❤

What a treasure, dearest Sister. Thank you for being a beautiful continuation of Thay Thank you as well for using Harry Potter, because now my adult children( who grew up reading those books) really want to hear your Dharma talk. I’m so sorry about your brother. Hopefully he will remember that he is an immigrant, just like those that politician despises.

Mankind's obsession with childhood? The magic of childhood? The release from childhood? Why being an adult means you are not a child? The magic of obsession? What magic there is in Zen? The childhood of Zen is finished yet incomplete.
