Crowd sourcing question: If I am in the middle of a dessert with no cellular or wifi coverage, can I send a message by piggy backing a nearby user who has cellular or WiFi ?.. This a technique used by marine VFF distress call - daisy chain. Same is also used by TILE bluetooth key finder. I can locate my lost key in New York even though I m in LA.

No, it works using your phone's network.

+Roger Nevez It's not a radio. It's just like your cell phone but you can instantly contact anyone you can call as long as you have wifi or internet access. Whoever you call must have the app and a Zello account, though.

You can't. It works like a walkie talkie. But when you are offline, the contact will see you are offline as it is mentioned in the status.

Hi, I think you better just go to the other channel I have where I discuss all possible bluetooth speaker microphones out there. Search for The Zello Doctor on KZread, you'll find all necessary info there. Kind regards. Kurt

Because the communication is still the same as a radio. People who use PTT, whether on a cell phone or an old-school radio, still should use the same etiquette. You still talk the same on a landline, cellphone and video call. Same for radio. Two-way radio or any other PTT conversation has a certain etiquette most people use.

nomibe2911 Yes. If they create an account, they can listen as long as they want, unless you give your channel a password. If your channel has a password, then they would have to decrypt the voice data on the servers and do a lot of hacking stuff before they could listen in.

Some people have made gateways between Zello and radio equiment. I have no video of that, but you can see other video's online (Brussels repeater) on 11 meter.

+GPBraaten only if the channel has a link to it, but then that link to 11M band will only be local in the town where it's set up. Example, in my town we have a Zello Channel that is connected to a DMR repeater system. Otherwise Zello is a "pretend" Walkie Talkie that only goes between phones.

For some reason, I was banned. Is there any way to get unbanned. I don't think I did anything wrong. All I said was "CQ CQ CQ. This is W5UVC calling and waiting for a call."

if you are someone with privacy concerns DO NOT download this app, it wont let you change any app permission at any time and is pretty much monitoring your mobile device every second, maybe its not their intentions but who knows
