I personally think that link wouldn't be in the yiga clan for long. I believe that even though he has no memories, he would still be the kindhearted person he is. I was thinking that while watching this video. I know nothing of the previous Yiga Clan leader, but Kohga is a little too stuck on himself to have been able to actively recruit much less successfully organize a takeover; their biggest festival involving an obscene amount of Mighty Bananas and himself. I'm almost certain Kohga is a figurehead, not an actual leader... If the Yiga Clan were to have grown in numbers enough to have a stable settlement, and used their stealth and combat skills more wisely while also providing for their own needs, they might have been able to get somewhere. They may have eventually been able to send carefully selected individuals around to the other settlements to spread discord. They may have been able to create enough unrest to make the Sheikah appear to be less than friendly and even downright sinister. With the Sheikah tech largely unknown in present-day BoTW, with much of it being possessed by Ganon, it wouldn't have taken too much effort for the Yiga to convince the other inhabitants of Hyrule that the Sheikah had had every intention of handing the entire country over to Ganon from the start, while carefully disguising their own intentions. Link would have woken to that sort of environment and would likely have sided with the Yiga for a time. I don't know how a massively confused hero would be handled as far as the characterization of the player-character when concerning the memories, however. Anyone got any ideas?

2 things. one, the yiga clan's sole mission is to kill the hero and without knowing he lost his memory they wouldn't have know that they could brainwash him. two, link can hear zelda's voice and she would have told him they were dangerous. though it would have been awesome to disguise yourself as a yiga and infitrate their base a game mechanic.

I would love to see a BotW mod that explores this. ...though I think the most likely scenario may be Koga does not restore Link's memories but instead tell him what he wants Link to "remember." ...then maybe as Link adventures, and aids in securing Hyrule for the Yigas, all this talk about Ganon begins to jog memories, and Link eventually defects. The outcome from there would also be interesting.

There should've been an obtainable Yiga Clan outfit that could be stolen from their storage room. I imagine each piece would give Link an Attack Up boost, and the full set when upgraded twice would give him a Day Speed Up boost. Basically the opposite of the Stealth set.

Him: says the gerudo, gorons, rito, Zora and Hylians could team up against the yiga. Me after playing age of calamity: Thats where your wrong kiddo 😂

yeah, but what if the clan didn't actually know what Link looked like, so they recruited him into the clan without even realizing who he was?

Hyrule Gamer, As I said multiple times, the Hylian royal family is evil and has committed so many atrocities. And as someone else said (and I couldn't agree more with him): (Quote) "We know in other games (games other than BOTW) that the Royal Family outright orders genocide. They also act like liegelords to all non-hylian tribes...IF said tribes are lucky. (Otherwise...they’re driven out, imprisoned, and/or massacred.) The Royal Family forged "Hyrule’s bloody history of greed and hatred" (mentioned in their torture chamber called the Shadow Temple, they also built other torture chambers and plastered their royal crest on it like the Well of Three Features and Arbiter's Ground). The Sheikah were merely doing their dirty work because of a fealty pledge originally given to Hylia that then passed down to those who carried the goddess’s bloodline, regardless of their morality. Every time the Sheikah appear, they get a rough deal, and often only have a single surviving member...with recent royal family history being heavily implied as the direct cause of their destruction yet again. (Really. It’s no wonder why the Yiga formed. The Hylian Royal Family pushed the Sheikah too far. Hylia forsake them...so why NOT cast their luck with the "calamity ganon"? Also, Ganondorf was just as cursed by fate as they are.) Hate to break it to you. But they did genocide three times outright in TP with the Sheikah, Gerudo, and Twili’s ancestors. (Also look up a genocide scale.) Banishment/forced relocation of an entire group IS a “softer” form of genocide, and it’s even winked at in OoT with Impa being the only Sheikah survivor and the Gerudo being forced into a desert where they’re forced to steal just to survive and became desperate enough to invade. And the “monsters” multiple times have been shown to be intelligent and having their own societies and culture! They even have their own Sage! I've said this before and I'll say it again: the entire plot of Ocarina of Time wouldn't have happened if the royal family didn't force the Gerudo tribe to live in a ghetto in the desert and be forced to steal for survival. Ganondorf, who flat out admits why he wanted to destroy OoT Hyrule in Wind Waker, would've never harbored that much hatred in his heart toward Hyrule and the royal family if he was allowed to live normally like every other race in the game. The royal family created the person Ganondorf became. About BOTW The Hylian royal family oppressed the Sheikah and are directly responsible for the creation of the Yiga clan. Misfire or testing, so what. The Sheikah tech didn’t cause radiation, and the Sheikah were forced to abandon ALL of their culture. If you can’t see it wasn’t as simple as placing things into storage I don’t know what to tell you. And we have the games’ events and a pattern, so don’t even bother “quoting” wog at me...which all literally reads as the same “history written by the victors and glossing over their involvement if they can’t outright sweep it under completely” that plagues any history. Take a grain of salt. It ain’t the “good wittle Chosenestestest by the gods who do no wong~ uwu “ that it all reads. We. Have. Evidence to the contrary. (Oh...and those narratives? Um...those are always promoted by nationalists if not outright fascists.) Also, It’s now been all but confirmed that the royal family basically did a genocide towards the Zonai tribe." DANG, that was dark and kinda depressing XD Way to true though. It's just like real history. No one is completely innocent and no one is completely bad. The Yiga definitely have a valid reason to be doing this. However, I wish they had found a course of action that DIDN'T involve awakening basically the devil XD Thanks for opening my eyes to this. I've never really thought about it to much. It HAS crossed my mind at times, but I never really focused much on it. The Yiga aren't completely evil, and the Hyrule family isn't completely innocent. It was very interesting to read this. Thanks :)

But…. What about Zelda? Technically she’s the first voice link hears and she’ the one who guides him at the beginning. She can talk with link telepathically so if she saw him getting captured she’d prob try to help him and inform him abt what’s going on right? Idk just a thought I had

And one more thing to add: This would a massive victory for Ganon, as he no longer has to deal with the Hero defeating him. Because this time, he now has control over Link, and the Triforce of Courage is on his side. Hyrule would be doomed at this point, as no one, not even the champions or Zelda (unless they showed him something that makes him remember that he's the Hylian Champion), as Link is the strongest Champion out of all 5 of them. And before someone brings up the gorons, you do know that Link can just dodge and flurry rush them with ease? Even Rito archers are no chance against him, especially when considering the fact Link can slow down time when firing arrows in the sky. But one thing Link can't use is the Master Sword (for obvious reasons, *cough cough, repels evil beings, *cough cough), this means Hyrule might have a chance (but they're ultimately doomed 99.99/100).

That is a great theory that I liked and I hope that nintendo makes a legend of Zelda game whare you play as link but are a member of the Yiga clan

Now I wanna be a game dev and make a fan game of this theory

I wouldn’t expect Link to join the Yiga clan, as Zelda can communicate to Link at certain important moments throughout the story. The earliest communication was when Zelda tells Link to follow the glowing point on the sheikah slate to go to the tower, and this would happen around the Link’s kidnapping. Zelda knows the Yiga Clan are evil, especially since she was almost killed by them in one of the memories, and would likely inform Link of their true intentions. Regardless, I find this theory to be really cool, and would like to see what would happen in an alternate timeline where the Yiga had more influence on Hyrule. They would definitely be able to take over the smaller settlements, and possibly threaten the bigger ones through more than just harassment, such as the robbery of the Thunder Helm.

Great video again hyrule also I was thinking from the video you didn't mention the gerudo tribe and what happened to them, also the advancement of the story if this happened and the power of Ganon not the yiga (but they could pose a challenge to the hero's and ganon plots other stuff) but it is just a theory

Not sure if anyone else mentioned this but Link awoke to Zeldas voice, Calling him by his name and telling him to grab the sPad “Shikah Pad”....So even if they kidnap him she will communicate with him telepathically and let him know he’s been tricked

Honestly, this is an interesting alternative idea. Fun thought experiment.

Just one thing the blight Gannons could move the sacred beasts in possible support of the yiga along with the corrupted gaurdian robots. End result = hyrule army defeat. But thats only if and i say again IF the blight Gannons have any of the intelect of the original, and bother to take advantage of the situation.

Lets say link didn't his memories back,now the yiga would have a few Options!If link were to join the yiga clan the yiga could train link,use him to steal and impersonate in other places like the zora,gorons and gurudo and he would still have powerful weapons like like the Goron,stealth or knight armors, elemental arrows,the shikea slate,use his image to trick and steal for the yiga but he would lose the master sword and other hyilan relics but he's still powerful and could be a good solider for the yiga!

I'm stunned at how many faults are in this video. You're a top tier zelda-tuber, so no big worries. But, can the yiga even GET on the plateau? It's elevated, the entrance is filled with rock and debris, and there's a mist barrier at the beginning. There's a reason no humans on up there. (I haven't really played around on the plateau after defeating Koga, so I'm not sure if the annoying barrage of yiga revenge goes there or not). Second, saying Link is JUST one more person is wildly dismissive. He singlehandedly defeated a horde of monsters (including multiple silver lynel) in a memory. His bullet-time champion ability is OP. Give that some ninja training and Link becomes a bigger yiga icon than Ganon himself.

And ANOTHER THING! Zelda sporadically calls out to Link. Especially if he dilly-dallies on the plateau without activities the tower. She would give giant warning alerts if he went off or got carried off with the Yiga

You’re forgetting that the villages, such as like the Grange in the Gerudo’s, and every single village, really don’t really have much contact and link could overrun stables within minutes

First time I found a Yiga Clan member on the road they asked if i wanted to join. I would have said "sure" if it was an option. Lol

I feel actual hylians would be like “who” link. But the other species? Definitely would be down to get back their tactical advantage. The Zora would be the hardest to convince to help since Link being yiga would only confirm a lot of the populous’ assumptions that link was a bad guy and let Mipha die. But I feel prince Sidon would fight for him. The king of Zora being a hesitant neutral party like “him being yiga... doesn’t feel quite right.... I doesnt sound like the boy Mipha would fall in love with. But the Zora have so unanimously spoken against him so I will support their decisions....Are you sure Sidon? That he is as kind as you say he is?”

Well here's the big thing. The Hylians are basically useless by the time Link wakes up. They can barely fight off bokoblins, for christ sake. The other races are more able to fight. Like the Zora or Gerudo. Also, the Yiga were able to steal the Thunder Helm from right under Riju's nose, so even then, the Gerudo, the most skilled fighters left in current Hyrule, can be tricked by the Yiga.

This isn't possible because the great plateau is elevated and the clan has no way of getting there and after that area Link already knows who he is

What if there was a DLC where you could play as Yiga-Link.

He should. That would be sooooo awesome.

so theres a guy that says Do you want to join the yiga clan? But theres no yes option, but he could probably join if the sheikah slate wasnt just on his waist for everyone to see And because this is a zelda game, we get to take down the yiga clan from the inside

Is it just me or does anyone else realize that the chief of guerdo town is a kid yet claims to be the daughter of a champion who died 100 years before, meaning the child is over 100 years old and doesn’t look a day over 12???

It isn’t known if Urbosa was her mother besides she says that she disappeared suddenly if that happened to Urbosa then Riju would be dead

I thought about something similar to the outcome of the video Link would lead an attack to conquer Gerudo Town and Riju would recognize the Sheika Slate and try to convince Link to change sides This theory reminded me of Zuko in Avatar the last Airbender

I think Link would spend years with the yiga clan, trusting it with his life, and when they go to attack the castle, link won't be convinced, and THE UNIVERSE IS THEIRS TO COMMAND

link became a cadre really fast and get the replica of thunder helmet

based on the decendents from AoC, im not sure how capable they are of saving link but if i were to pick 2, Sidon and Teba have my vote

Even if link became evil i really doubt he would join ganon just for the demise incarnate destroy what's left of hyrule. Link would probably kill the yiga clan leader and ganon to take it all for himself or just stay with the yiga clan and become they're leader and marry a female yiga clan member to continue the bloodline.

Speaking of female Yiga Clan members, do we even see any in the game? Or does it span deeper than we think? I hadn't come across any Blademasters before Kohga's defeat, so did they pick a new leader or was Kohga just a figurehead allowed to think he was? Or is the Yiga Clan we see in BoTW just one chapter of a larger network of them?

Yiga cannot spawn on the great plateau. So theory busted.

We know Riju would be able to beat them all by raising her armpits.

Plus link woke up in a sheikah shrine and the yiga were also sheikah so they could have even said he was one of them before his slumber and they built the shrine

Link would literally become the winter soldier of the yiga clan

He forgot the bottom halve of the picture! If you search up yiga link the full picture will be there with him holding a banana

I feel like the yiga would betray Ganon. They’re pretty much sheikas who didn’t want hyrule to have control over what they do and ganon is pretty much the apocalypse and no human in their right mind would support that, especially ex sheikas.
