I was in Zeeland for the opening of an exhibit that includes parts of my documentary short film. This climate march was happening on the large square across from the Zeeuws Museum.

🇳🇱 The event you see here was organized by Zeeuwse Milieufederatie (Environmental Federation of the Province of Zeeland in The Netherlands-often mistakenly called “Holland”). As a reminder, “Dutch” means “of The Netherlands,” NOT Germany.
As you can see, there were signs about various things, but the ones I saw the most were in protest of the 2 additional nuclear reactors The Netherlands intends to build near the town of Borssele.
The speakers I heard:
- Let’s designate the environment as a person with legal rights.
- When we’re out in nature, my father always talks about how beautiful things USED TO BE. Let’s make sure we don’t destroy the beautiful nature that remains.
- Poetry about the sea level rising. (“Zeeland” means “Sealand,” and the province has islands and peninsulas.)
