Everytime you make a project like this, I'm reminded how I've been vastly underestimating the strength of wood glue.

I continue to think that to this day... from the first time in wood shop in elementary school, when some kid brings it up and the teacher replies with "on the glue bottle it says it holds 5000 lb. Just because you use it with little paper crafts doesn't mean they're lying about the 5000 lb." and then we proceed to build a table without nails. IIRC white glue is stronger than some of the wood it holds together.

I learned that when I invented my MAN-Purse, an octagonal wooden carrying case held together with quality woodworking glue. I didn't sell many and stopped production, but I've been using the same one for my own use for almost two decades now and it shows no signs of weakness. I'm still amazed.

I am always appreciative of the amount of labor and time not captured in under a 12-minute video. I love the beautiful combination of horizontal and vertical lines captured in this piece.

Absolutely! This is the kind of project I love watching, but know I could never complete. I don't have the patience to do this much prep.

I must say that you have the patience of a Saint to put all those pieces together. As always I find it fascinating to watch you work. I did wonder if it was going to be the base of a lamp. I love the finish, and it was well worth the time and effort putting it all together. I also loved the great camera work showing us the inside too. A very cool optical illusion happening with the curved grain on the outside of the vessel. Nice!

Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. You have both Mr Philip. Fantastic ideas and excellent execution. Bet it took a lot longer than the video did to watch.

I love how the "outlines" of the veneer make the squareness of the block pieces stand out, even though they're rounded and smooth.
