ZCU-30 & WAP-5 - Pakistan Railways & Indian Railways locomotives

The 70th Independence Day of both Pakistan and India (i.e. 14th August and 15th August respectively), is close. For the occasion, I have compiled some videos of trains hauled by the fastest locomotives of Pakistan and India, namely, the ZCU-30 and the WAP-5 respectively, that I found to be the best, on KZread. The original links to the clips shown in the video are given below along with the respective channel names: -

    Hi. Nice video buddy. I am going to make a model of both Pakistani and Indian train. I have travelled in Pakistani train 3 months ago. It max runs on 140km/hr but in rare areas, while Indian railways they are at their best. No doubt. GOD bless you.

    This video is not doing justice with ZCU-30 coz WAP-5 is double in horse power than zcu-30 and also wap-5 is electric. U should have compared zcu-30 with wdm class diesel locos in india. Even indian diesel loco WDP4 is way more powerful than zcu-30 as wdp4 is around 5500hp. Also indian rail coaches r atleast 5-8mtrs lengthier than pakistan rail coaches.

Sagacity and Magnanimity from both the sides makes it worth reading and understanding. Finally the railways are linking people's minds

    And lets not forget the diesel class, The general motors export infamously called the GT46PAC or rather named as WDP 4 is an indian diesel locomotive with its variants, possessing lesser horse powers ranging from 4000hp to 4500hp and can cruise upto 180 kmhr which was showcased in its trial run with the spanish talgo coaches. And also the antique WAP 4 electrical locomotive from CLW has a experimental run speed upto 200 kmhr !! So the bottomline is that theirs no prediction which is faster locomotive in india, every locomotive has a unique feature which outperforms others !

    Pak Railways should try to electrify some busy lines, upgrade tracks and import a few WAP-5 locos for more speed. And even the rolling stock should be upgraded as much as possible like our LHB rakes, some of which were already exported to Bangladesh. This will be beneficial for both economies-IR will be able to do some exports, PR can generate more revenue in this manner and a boost to Diplomacy.

    Compared to other locomotives of European and Japanese railways we are still lagging behind.. but provided the structural strength of tracks are upgraged... few trains can have the ability to hit even 180 to 200 kmph... that can reduce considerable amount of time in intercity journeys...

    i believe there's another class of indian locomotive called WAP 7 which has better performance figures running dominantly in south india ! it has a total horse power of 6350, higher than WAP 5 which haules gaatimaan exp ! though WAP 7's operational speed is less than its previous locomotives, experimental runs show the former is more of a beast than the latter !

  • @AbhishekSanyalTGV

    @AbhishekSanyalTGV

    8 жыл бұрын

    WAP 7 typically has a heavy haul capacity. It has more HP, so it can accelerate faster, and haul 24-26 coach trains at 140 kmph. WAP-5 has a slower acceleration, but faster speeds. It can't haul a 20 coach train as fast as a WAP-7 can. Also, more HP doesn't necessarily mean more speed. India will be getting 12000 HP Alstom Prima 2 from 2018, but its max speed would be 120. Due to the high power tho', it would be able to haul 10000 ton freight trains at 75+ kmph

    I think there has to be correction the maximum speed of WAP-5 is 180 km/hr and I don't think so there has to be comparison between diesel and electric engine. yeah that's totally not a true comparison to provide both countries best locomotives P5 is best locomotive I know but if there would be WDP-4 or WDM-3A

  • @vish3161

    @vish3161

    7 жыл бұрын

    Actually even the WDP4 diesel loco can do 160 kmph and was recently used in the Talgo trial at 180 kmph. Thus WAP5 and WDP4 should jointly hold the title of India's fastest locomotive , but then the WDP4 in actual service doesnt do those kind of speeds while the WAP 5 does 160 km/hr everyday with the Gatimaan express. There are two re-geared WAP 5s recently added to the Ghaziabad shed which are reportedly capable of 220 km/hr ( not too sure of this news ). Diesels have a charm of their own. Infact for a long time in India until the early 80s, it was the GM WDM4 which was the speed king in India and was used to haul the Howrah Rajdhani at 130 kmph . Even though the Delhi Howrah line was fully electrified, this train ran with diesel simply because the WAM-4s were not capable of those speeds . At that speed a WDM-4 could barely haul 9 coaches and needed to be double headed when the train became longer . Interseting video .. Pakistan Railways seem to be a delight for old diesel fans like me with their mix of Hitachis, EMDs, GEs , Alcos and now these Chinese locos ..

  • @AbhishekSanyalTGV

    @AbhishekSanyalTGV

    Bro, PR is now focusing on freight operations to make the railway profitable. So, the GE locos will mostly be used for freight operations, because of their power, which will make it easy to haul freight trains, which are heavier. Mr. Rafique said this. And yes, they look sexy! ;) For the 160 kmph trains, Pakistan Railways might go for electric locos to be bought later. Consider this...India will manufacture and buy 12000 HP locos...but those will only be used for goods trains (and the locos have a max speed of only 120 kmph)...but because of their power, they can carry tremendous loads. Imagine a goods train at 100 kmph with huge load. Same is the case with PR. Both railways have a good focus on freight services.

    That is applicable for the major portion of their railways, bro :) But, they have upgraded certain sections of their tracks which were very old, due to which, some of their trains go up to speeds of around 125 on those sections, although only for a few minutes. Also, according to reports, upgradation is underway as part of the CPEC deal. So, by 2019, Pakistanis may see trains plying at max speed of around 160 kmph. My knowledge about the 125 kmph speed right now is only based on what I have read on comments by Pakistani rail passengers, so yes, it is not a credible piece of information, as all their articles and even their Rail minister said that the max speed is 110...but the trains in this video are definitely doing more than 110 kmph :) And the videos are not sped up. Maine ye video 6 years pehle upload kiya tha. Maine speed guess karne mein galti ki thi Actually, Pakistan's trains cannot exceed 115 Kmph. And aisa ho hi nhi sakta ki Pakistan Railways ka 130 Indian railways ke 160 se zyada ho. Physics naam ki bhi koi cheez hoti hai.
