slowly but steady. i have been noticing this for years, that beatmakers have been separating themselves from the rest of the groups , just as mc's / dj's or bboys and writers are members of the same family, they attract different types of crowds/personalities. so the nerdy, laid back collaborative attitude seems to be more of a beatmaker's trait , and that couldn't come more natural

This is old but it had an impact on me when I first saw this comment. I don't know if this is accurate, but what seems to be so intriguing about it is its use of timing and choice of keys is like a counter melody to modern music. It's like zaytoven's personal opinion/preference on music itself. I don't mean to rant too long about nonsense.

It's basically just sampling other genres and putting a certain type of percussion and rhythm to it. He's a good pianist, but not that great compared to many (even just for making it up on the spot). That being said, I like the beats and hip hop in general, just as of the current status quo of beats, not super hard to make a competitively good beat.

I bet the average person can’t do what they do, Zaytoven can literally make whole score compositions if he wants to, why do you think they call him ZAYTOVEN? Maybe they aren’t 100% geniuses, but they are certainly skilled musicians.

Once that melody came in from the keyboard it really brought that beat to life and also gave it a little sprinkle of that stank face funk, but just the right amount, it was ready for someone to flow on

You guys need to go to church and learn music from that perspective! That's how cats like Zay play so fluently. Most of your best R&B bands are made up of church musicians! 😂 We can play almost everything.
