Unable to access the SVD's technical data, Yugoslavia developed its own precision rifle in the 1970s. The result is the M76, based on the Kalashnikov mechanism. This M76 uses the 8mm Mauser Mauser, as the country had inherited large stocks from the Second World War.
In the 1980s, there was a desire to modernize the rifle and, above all, to change the cartridge to something more standardized in the area, the 7.62x54mmR. Development was to take several years, as it was not easy to design a semi-automatic weapon in this caliber, since the 7.62x54mm has a bead at the base which can make feeding complicated.
By 1991, the weapon was ready for adoption, and looked very much like the M76. Firstly, the stock and handguard are made of wood, and the breech housing is machined as on the M76. It wasn't until the 2010s that the stock and handguard were made of polymer, and the breech housing of pressed steel.

This was a pleasant video content. You've put in a lot of work and on your eloquence, it did your video as well as this rifle justice. Keep up the great work and kind regards! Subbed.

basically it's a Romanian PSL with the same cartridge and AK mechanism ... and the 76 model is related to the PSL that was manufactured 2 years before with the same mechanism ... both countries had the same problem with the USSR and a military collaboration on all levels manufacturer from airplanes together to artillery or infantry parts... it wouldn't be difficult to find that out if he had an average culture... the one that makes me think of ill will not stupidity

The M-76 with Mauser rounds 8mm is the best sniper rifle in SVD type!!! That bullet has some strange power and ballistically it's not bad either considering his grenage!!!😉😎😎😎🤟

Zastava (Serbian) is 7.9×57mm. Or as foreigners say 8 mm Mauser. Zastava produced them under the designation m48 PS. My father was conscripted during the civil war in Yugoslavia and had an m76 semi-automatic sniper( magazine with 10 rounds ) also 7.9. Same standard Mauser bullet.

I need help finding luminous flip up night sights, the correct scope for the rear flip cheek stabilizer, and wooden furniture would be nice, which it wouldnt matter about the cheek rest anyway. Need help finding details on the bayonet mount, i wonder if they sell that sight part separately with the bayonet on it... the appropriate muzzle device too to ensure proper bayonet mounting, if i cant find one, ill make one, or several lol

СВД (тигр) выглядит вот так kzread.info/dash/bejne/hH5ol8qpeLXLo6g.html , Карабин Вепрь ВПО 123Д 01 7,62x54R kzread.info/dash/bejne/oqOCtcOsfL2Thso.html . First the Kalashnikov assault rifle appeared, and then the SVD. A machine cannot be a copy of something that does not exist. The SVD is a completely different device, in the video it is a copy of the RPK (Kalashnikov Light Machine Gun), its modernization in 7.62x54 caliber and a gas chamber regulator, in Russian civilian use it is the Vepr. The SVD (aka Tiger civilian version) has a different operating principle, the bolt group is made differently, the receiver is milled, and the trigger is entirely removable. SVD (tiger) looks like this kzread.info/dash/bejne/hH5ol8qpeLXLo6g.html, Carbine Vepr VPO 123D 01 7.62x54R kzread.info/dash/bejne/oqOCtcOsfL2Thso.html@@stanislavt6376
