When I visited my mum in Jamaica, to get to a different part of JA was 3-5 hours drive so we got used to it. When I went to the Seychelles, to get to the other islands from the main island was 2 hours by boat. Don't get started on Namibia because I was planning to go there but don't want to self-drive but everywhere is 4-6 hours. I think you just have to decide what is worth the hours of travelling time especially if there's something you really want to see in a country.
