Chien-Pao won't lower the power of Body Press, but actually _increase_ it because Body Press is a physical attacking move that uses the user's Defense instead of Attack in damage calculation.

Chien-Pao lowers defense tho? So it should lower Body Press dmg since it uses defense to calc dmg

I hadnt battled another person in a pokemon game other than go since i played pokemin red on a game boy growing up and i managed to make it from begginner to master ball tier with a rental zamazenta team this week

Maybe? But it might make the damage of moves like Psyshock/ Psystrike/Secret Sword stronger (I haven't tested)

It’s like how Regigigas cuts body press damage despite Slow Start saying it decreases Attack. Attack does not equal attack stat, defense does not equal defense stat, apparently

It affects the defending stat, not the attacking stat, even when defense is being used AS the attacking stat with body press

I am not sure if you'll see this in time but I was wondering if someone can explain something for me. I am going to the LA regionals and noticed that the event is 24th-26th. If the torney proper starts on the 25th what is happening on the 24th? Is it the registration or are there other things to do while there and that first day is a sort of free day? I have never been to a regional so I have no clue.

Regionals are basically conventions, so they have vendors, side events, and early check in for stuff. Think of the regional as a tournament that happens to be in the convention hall. There’s more info online at Poke-Event if you want a full schedule

What’s the code for the team?

Is grass tera on Zam better than water tera? The only case I can see for grass is that it makes you immune to spore. Other than that, water seems better in most cases, since it makes you eat up surging strikes AND resist fire.

It will suffer in double restrict due to low attack stats + Iron defense will be harder to use

@@sussybeam55 hard disagree. You don't even need to run iron defense on it now, and it's regular offensive stats are usable. But it gets coaching, and wide guard, so I think it will likely shift to a more supportive role in a double restricted format, and still see pretty high use

@@sussybeam55 idk I think being the bulkiest wide guard user who can also do very respectable damage in support of a more offensive restricted is very valuable. Wide guard negates most kyogre sets, as well as other pokemon that rely on spread moves. It's extremely valuable in this format. And body press on a max defense zam at least 2 shots the vast majority of things that don't resist fighting, in not OHKOing. It can just delete incin in one hit without any set up. Body press is not affected by intimidate
