Zaliha corrects MP's translation of 'brain drain'
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa today corrected Oscar Ling (Harapan-Sibu) over the backbencher’s translation of the term brain drain into Malay.
In a question posed to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Ling used a direct translation instead, which is “longkang otak”.
Zaliha, who responded during Question Time this morning, said the correct translation according to Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka for the term “brain drain” cited by Ling should have been “hijrah cendekiawan” or migration of scholars.

Even though our Malaysia local government university in Malaysia (IPTA) is ranked in the world, it is sad that even our own people with good academic performance cannot get in. What if? In the end, we still have to apply to study in our neighboring Singapore and receive scholarships.
I like the term longkang otak with a twist. Jom kita ramai ramai pakai istilah baru "Longkangan otak ". All our efforts and costs to train up Kesemuanya talents yg kita kehilangan, sudah longkang Pigi.. Yang dapat untung? Singapore, Australia, NZ, USA Dan lain lain lagi. 😂😂😂😂

Kelayakan masuk universiti berdasarkan merit. Tapi sekolah tak taja penglibatan kokurikulum pelajar, smua kos tanggung sendiri. Anak orang kaya je la yang dapat banyak merit. Anak orang miskin, B40 tak mampu.
