This is similar to Zakk in Cincinnati, March 17, 2019. Zakk kicked ass! Going into the crowd like he does is a mixed blessing. I was in the balcony so I would have to sit for five, 10, 15 minutes just listening but I could not see Zakk. I was getting frustrated so I started checking my email on my phone, suddenly Zakk comes through the fire escape door on the balcony and he walks right in front of me. I should have encouraged him with a friendly slap on the shoulder, but instead I'm fumbling with my stupid cell phone camera and the moment is gone. I love that he goes out in the crowd but I wish he would just walk slowly but keep walking. In Cincinnati he would just get to a position and stay there for five or 10 minutes, a dozen people get an excellent treat but 1,000 others can't see what's going on, so I hope something can be improved. I knew little about Zakk before this weekend, now I am a rabid fan! Out of all the fine professionals at experience Hendrix this year, I think Zakk was my favorite at the show that I saw. I would give the number two slot to Jonny Lang at the Cincy show that I saw. The Cincinnati show was 90 minutes in the first half, a 15 minute intermission with nothing on stage going on, then 90 minutes to end it. Zakk appeared in both halves! I say Zakk stole the show with his enthusiasm, rock 'n' roll spirit, and hyper skills! I don't think Zakk stole any time away from any other famous guitarist who wanted more time. They gave the stage to a slide guitar band for 15 or 20 minutes, which I did not think was appropriate, Hendrix did not play slide guitar that you sit out and play it like it's a table. Zakk kicked ass at experience Hendrix in Cincinnati. His longest walk through the crowd was a good 20 minutes yet he was listening to the band on stage playing Little Wing and Zakk was always following the chord changes, always in the spirit of the song. Zakk was most in the spirit of Hendricks that night, in my opinion, he wailed on his guitar and kept taking it further than you thought it could ever go! Everybody else was sort of timid with their playing. Folks need to loosen up more, although that is hard when you have to get on and off the stage, Then come back in 30 minutes and repeat. As Eric Johnson introduced Zakk saying he will blow your mind, correct.

The Zakk that wrote No More Tears seems not too show up at all anymore the last 10 years. He's a Great player at his own stuff these days but when he does these experiences and tributes and covers he just cant lock it in without his shred spin all over the place.

B4 you criticize this performance realize a few things... Zakk's a prolific songwriter & performer. He's "waited to go onstage a longer total amount of time than your band's total time playing gigs. #2 You can't hit a home run on every show. #3 I think this tour, and all of its performers tap into the "spirit of what Jimi was all about" just being free & being yourself. #4 Hendrix never played perfect every show but he was always inspired.

Damn, these comments are brutal. Zakk definatly could use some advice from management. He is a good singer and has an uncanny talent to arrange some of the most melodic solos that we all love him for. Unfortunately he has become infected with 32nd note syndrome. We love you Zakk but it is time to kick back and slow down so you can get to another depth of guitar playing. With that said, if you listen to this performance you have to admit not many guitarists could sustain this level of competence throughout and still provide numerous moments of brilliance.

1st thanx for posting this AIE TUBE....as u said below, "people complaining about Zakk being Zakk..classic". Typical internet BS! I was in LA in the mid '80s and learned that 99% of people that criticize music/musicians are frustrated musicians. I read all the comments and felt compelled to add my opinion...people, this is not a competition! Any guitarist can learn to play a song note for note. One of the keys to becoming a good musician is improvisation. Jimi is the reason I picked up a guitar. I beg to differ with those who think he would be offended at Zakk's interpretation of his music. On the contrary, he would appreciate Zakk's effort. I was fortunate enough to have spent a couple of hours with Eddie Kramer and he told me how humble Jimi was. In closing I ask all these people who are bashing Zakk to quit typing. Instead grab a guitar, put ur phone in video mode and show us how it's done! Seriously, I wanna see what you can do besides talk sh!t about someone else's playing!

@@TheDogPa The funniest part is Zakk is a huge Frank Marino fan....I'm also a big fan of Zakk's playing and will agree that this is shred for shred's sake for the most part. And his vocals are getting worse as time goes on

The best cover of purple haze is by Frank Marino on his live album. Period! Go educate yourself on one of Zakk's idols. Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush live album. Purple haze will blow you away. Love SRV. One of the best players ever, but not his Hendrix covers. That is Frank's playground.

That's not even shredding ..He's in some sort of rut and has been there for quite a while.. He just goes out there and does his shtick and moves on..He should still be honing his craft , separating the wheat from the chaff but the chaff is left in and its rotting and spoiling the entire crop..

See ZAKK? See how Satrianni manages to still keep the Hendrix vibe while spicing up the songs with his own technical flair and voice? It truly is incredible! kzread.info/dash/bejne/YoeZ1bOvfLqfdc4.html U can tell that this ensemble was very quickly thrown together for this show. No time polish off, BUT...who cares? Still excellent to see what Satch brings. Gotta say, he impressed me more with this performance that even with his own material. Love Satch! Love him even more after this. Heah!
