I first saw Zakk with Ozzy in 96. I’ve seen B.L.S. 4 times. I didn’t get to back Zakk up, we talked for a long time, we both love J.M. & Robin Trower… so many guitarists we have in common. He such a pro, he’s just fire constantly. I backed up Pantera on the far beyond driven tour & the great southern trend kill tour’ I got breathalysed by Dime, he was exactly like all the stories you hear. Rex was such a nice bloke & Vinnie was as well. Dime drank & smoked me into the ground, then breathalysed me, “ get another shot in ya mother F@cker. I said hello to Phill on the second tour, he looked at me… he looked lie he wanted to kill me, I just looked him straight in the eyes. A been fighting pro since I was 14 , I year after I started playing guitar. He’s a big dude, he most likely would have mauled me. But hey , I don’t back down from anyone. It was something I’ll never forget.. I don’t think Phill would even remember me. Dime, He was as nice & funny as everyone said. And the crazy drinking game he’d play. Man. I bought pride & glory when it came out. It’s the one with a misprint, & I have the first B.L.S. Album that got changed because of “ Johnny walker “. When Zakk hit , he didn’t sweep, he didn’t tap, he rarely used diatonic scales. He reminded me of one of the greatest guitarists of all time, John McLaughlin . He played pentatonic scales so fast, “ The Mahavishnu Orchestra. I then found out that Johns one of Zakks biggest influences. Everyone was doing the neoclassical thing ( Ynqwie changed everything) so Zakk & Dime did the opposite. They have a lot of music with dime & Zakk just jamming. I hope it gets realised someday. Great vid p94 , I don’t subscribe to many big channels, you my friend have great taste. Where did you find this ? Take care Brother. 🤘❤️🎶

It's all speed, it should be balanced like, for example, in this river.

Zakk doesn't play with long, inflective tones like other artists like Eric Clapton. He's got a bit more of an angry tone to playing. It's definitely different, I understand why you don't like it! He does have quite a bit of talent, but unfortunately it will be a bit unappreciated because of his stylistic playing. I believe he mostly just does what comes natural to him. There were many times in this, for me, that he lost me. It felt very unpracticed, mostly improv. Definitely no conformist.

I agree, his aggression is feel. It’s art, some makes you cry, angry , happy. It’s about emotion. He did his job, he upset someone, I don’t agree, but I stand by his freedom to speak his mind though. EMOTION/ FEEL. Zakk can play anything, people don’t seem to get that. Well that’s sad for them .
