They show justice league 2016 as a reference to why he became his own DOP. He’s talking about all the ‘chairs’ and monitors and the disconnect between the two. Justice League 2016 is the perfect example of that.

Shout out to Suckerpunch. I think it was highly misunderstood. Most people only saw it's face value. When I tell people what the film was about, it is as if I watched a different movie than them. Rebel Moon reminded me of Mass Effect gathering the team. Looking forward to part 2.

Ironic how he mentions how the R rated cut of Rebel Moon is almost like an alternate reality version of the same movie where different things could happen from the PG13 version. Because that is quite literally what ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ is to 2017’s ‘Justice League’. It has, in fact, been done before. He did it. He just doesn’t realise it because he supposedly, to this day, hasn’t seen the 2017 cut.

we need more of these interviews with zack!

I was fortunate enough to meet Zack a couple of times. Once at the directors release of Dawn of the Dead and again at the director's release of The Watchman.

How are you going to talk justice league with the man and not show his actual version.

Why the interviewer slumped in his chair like he's eight hours in to a gaming bender?

So looking forward to part 2!

Man I have a list of titles that i wish Zack would direct, Gungrave, Riddick, Blame!, Evangelion, Xenogears, Vagrant Story.

I’m looking forward to his “ Twilight of the Gods”. I’d love to see Zack do something like a Clash of the titans type movie. Greek mythology 👍🏻

At 2:18, that 'Superman punch' part wasn't directed by Zack Snyder, so it's weird to have the 'Directed by Zack Snyder' caption in the video. I think Letterboxd would have done better to show both versions of the scene, so that people can see the difference between the theatrical and director's cuts.

Watchmen one of the top films ever. Should be in all top 20 films of all time.

I love this director, I’m glad he’s making stuff for all to see. Of course so many go after Rebel Moon since it’s his latest project but I thought it was great and looking forward to Part 2. I’ve seen part 1 three times already.

Know what's crazy is that I didn't know Zach directed Rebel moon pt... But after watching it I was so immersed and impressed

Snyder's films are full of philosophies like the Trolley dilemma in MoS where Superman had to choose an alien family or his blood (Zodd), yet you hear someone say there's no context. So exhausting

Great Q and A! I love Zack Snyder. He’s a phenomenal visual storyteller. But bruh, why did you show the wrong Justice League clip(s)?

Everything ZACK SNYDER touches turns to gold

In 2011 WB was asking Snyder if the Kent's last name could be Jackson or could they be from Chicago instead of Kansas during pre production🤦🏼 Zack said no, and Nolan got WB to stay off his back. Then they force Snyder to do BVS instead of Man of Steel 2. Then they cut 40 minutes from the theatrical cut of BVS. Then they make David Ayer reshoot more than half of Suicide Squad into a vision thats not his. Then they snake Zack, recruit Joss to reshoot parts of Justice League instead of giving Snyder time to grieve. Then WB messes with Joss himself and gives him a 2 hour mandate. Whether you like Zack or not, his actual Justice League would have made more money than BVS. The theatrical Josstice League made less than Man of Steel. WB basically spent money in 2017 to lose money. Then they get Gunn to direct another suicide squad movie. They screw Gunn over by releasing it on streaming services while it was in theaters.. which hurt the Box office. They go get Keaton, and say he'll be in Batgirl, and a few other movies. They scrap Batgirl after he shoots his scenes. So now... what Keaton originally signed up for is not happening. Sasha (super girl) only gets to be in the flash with no future in DC. They never made a solo Batfleck movie where he goes against Deathstroke. They said no to a low budget Deathstroke movie that would have cost less than 70 million to make. They made Todd Phillips find funding else where for 2019 Joker and other companies reap the rewards of that billion dollar movie. Billion dollar Aquaman should have been prioritized, and production for part 2 should have been done before the pandemic hit. I could keep going. Warner Brothers is a train wreck when it comes to DC properties due to management. Nolan was the only person who got to make a concrete trilogy without much f^ckery. WB even alienated him away. I'm looking forward to the Amanda Waller show instead of Darkseid invading Earth & fighting the Justice League😂🤣

Each movie is getting an R rated extended cut. Don't know the date but probably after the PG version of part 2 releases in April

Rebel Moon was no where near as bad as some people were saying. I was expecting to be like "WHY ZACK?" but I enjoyed it. Not a top 10 movie of the year but it's fun and Sofia Boutella is badass and HOT in the film. I liked it

Interviewer just hated to be there, I could tell. Love Zack lol.

I don't know who has the more up-to-date info here, but I think it would be odd to drop both director's cuts at the same time as the second part. I think netflix wants to spread the releases out a little bit.

When JL was being written and made, the whole Dr Manhattan vs Justice League comics weren't made yet. And honestly, they never should've been made. Putting Watchmen in the DC multiverse is a massive insult to Alan Moore, who never wanted his characters to be a part of the larger DC world.

I like the arc he takes from letting a world be destroyed to going to other universes to explore why other beings of great power still have hope and fight for their planet despite it all ending in destruction and death. It ends with him kinda redeeming himself and sets up the path for Superboy Prime who eventually helps defeat/deter Batman Who Laughs. At least that's how I see it.

Because Zack Snyder isn't a bad filmmaker, so it's frustrating when a lot of us see him make movies far below his potential. Michael Bay is a bad director, even his best work lives on the performances rather than Bay's direction. It's not surprising or disappointing to see a bad Bay movie because we know what to expect. Snyder is far more talented than Michael Bay. DOTD, 300, Watchmen, Owls, and arguably MoS all show remarkable talent in filmmaking. So, when he makes something terrible like Sucker Punch or as convoluted as BvS or Rebel Moon, it's a massive disappointment because it's far below his potential. Bad movies by talented filmmakers are always more frustrating than bad movies by bad directors.

Does he answer any actual critic questions? Like why did rebel moon sucked? Or are these kiss ass questions?

Eh. Really who cares what a Watchmen group of critics think. That’s a retro notion that critics know better. Anybody with a half a brain knows you’re not supposed to be mainlining critical opinions because when you do that, it ceases to be criticism. Particularly when the critics know their opinions are going to be aggregated into a score. Almost nothing is pure anymore
