Z31 eBay Turbo Build - Full cost breakdown with links for na2t swap Z31 Ep 33

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is a break down of my 1986 Nissan 300zx NA2T / turbo build. It’s a full eBay build with only a few thing bought from parts stores or other websites.
The estimated cost for just doing bare minimum for the NA2T was about $1000. For all the additional parts was another $2000 for a total of around $3000. There are some cost/expenses that are not included like runs to the parts store for miscellaneous stuff.
All the links wouldn’t fit in the description so I’ll try to add them in the comments.

curious on your thoughts on the hy35 over the hx 35, seems to make about the same amount of power yet is supposed to spool almost as quick as the stock t3. Also I'm pretty sure it comes from factory with the 3 inch exhaust from the turbine. If you had to do it over would you choose a different setup like hy35 or a t3/t4 combo?

So I don’t really know a lot about turbos… On lot of the old forums and posts people used the hx35 so I know it was more or less “tried and true”. I think there’s 2 versions on the hx35 on with 6 compressor blade and one with 7 (I think) the one with more blades was supposed to be marginally better so that’s the one I tried to get ended up getting the one with less blades (eBay ftw) From what I read the hy35 might be slightly smaller so I could spoil a little quicker. But might not make same max power (whatever that may be) **on my street tune (timing maps probly nowhere near close to where they need to be)** My hx 35 depending on gear can start to boost around 2800 and hits max wg pressure of about 11psi around 3500. If I had to do it again I would try a different turbo. The hx35 I got was about $100 on eBay. But from what I read there are more efficient ball bearing turbos (replicas/eBay specials😉) in the $300-$400 range. I need to do a lot more research but I’ll be looking for a ball bearing turbo that may be slightly smaller. These are some of the ones I want to research: BW s362sxe Gtx3076r Pt5858 Vsr5855 GT35 GT3582r Vs6162

Z31 lovers....can anyone help me out? I have the 86 model and the digital dash was working, but no gas reading. So I decided to go to the rear of the car and remove the FSU to clean it, in hopes of getting the entire dash cluster working, but to my surprise, I went to turn the key to see if If that helped, but I ended up losing my entire cluster. I checked all fuses, and all ground wires and it still wont come on. If i had another cluster power box i could check that theory as well but a used cluster power box is 400 to 750 bucks. Thats highway robbery

check the digi dash power supply under the driver kick panel. you can try to re solder the main connector points. ive got an earlier video on that. but $500 for a working one is about the going rate. check the facebook groups and theres people you can send it to to get fixed, i think its about the same price tho around $350 idk

If the ECU has the nistune board installed, yes you can just load a base tune (.bin file) for a naturally aspirated engine. I installed the turbo manifold and then bought a flange and wheeled a custom down pipe to go from the turbo manifold to the front of the cat.

@@1lowz634 kind of hard to follow what your asking? If you have a stock turbo ECU you can use that with stock turbo injectors only. If you have bigger injectors you will need to use the Nistune ECU and at a minimun set the K value to get it running. I would not advise daily driving it with out getting it professionally tuned. Just to be clear, you have: 1) the NA ECU in your car not that its running on 2) a turbo ECU from a donor car and 3) a Nistune ECU from past power???
