@@xROJANBOx Most of the german destroyers did. This particular class ( type 1936A ) was blessed with a considerably improved hull over it's predecessors and way too much gun. The twin 150mm turret weighs the bow down just a bit too much if you don't plan on swimming, but most of them didn't originally get that turret due to shortages.

@@ibnu9969 It would probably need the powerplant of the Iowa (which wouldn't fit) because HP needed is exponential the higher up you go. Ie you might need 1k hp to go from 1 to 2 knots but you will need 10k hp to go from 21 to 22 knots. But then again Wargaming is passing off real life life cruisers or designs as destroyers now with this line and the paolo emilio. And magical russian 8.7 inch guns on the Petropavlovsk can pen BB armor at all at ranges above 1km (they cant beyond that range) and have the performance of the Bismarck Guns.

Not sure with what exponential increases on water (obviously it'll be much bigger), but I can tell you, even if you put Iowa's powerplant on a highly hydrodinamic DD (an achievement on itself given the size of that powerplant), it'd struggle to go at anywhere the speeds most DDs can go in the game (let alone the 50+ knots of some). There are instances of ships losing a third of power through some kind of damage and being almost as fast as the ship undamaged. It is that tremendous. For instance, one of the german Kaisers was designed to have a diesel powerplant for the center shaft, it never got installed. With roughly 2/3s of the total power output of her siblings, and as a two shafted ship instead as a three shafted one, the ship registered top speeds of 20.8 knots... while the sister ships were good for 21. So essentially, outside of the 3D models, whatever similarity between real life ships and whatever is in that game is mere coincidence. WG could've named WOWS "world of tatooine sandcrawlers", changed the 3D models from ships to some fancy star wars stuff, and the game would be as believable and representative of actual historical warship performance/tactics as it has always been. Meaning: not at all.

The ending of this video truly proves flamus interest in this new line

My goodness, I feel sorry for anyone who has to endure the grind through this ship, imagine a free player just starting out the game and making it to this ship and having to grind out around 139,000 exp to get past this thing (based on maass’s total exp grind minus the torp upgrade because there isn’t one for Z-31). Poor dude would probably earn maybe 500exp per match, it can’t be good at anything other than a convenient damage piñata for the enemies, which I would suspect isn’t very profitable in terms of exp gain.

@@majestichotwings6974 grinding out good ships as an average player can take months above tier 6. Because I constantly have no flags and am almost running out of camps. I'm currently on tier 9 Neptune and I earn Negative Credits per match unless I get over 120k damage or basically do a bunch of other stuff to pull out #1 on my team in a win in a ranked battle. (It's around a minimum of 140k servicing costs per match) because I have no gold I can never rebuild my captains or transfer modules. Which as a result means at tier 7 I'll be playing the first 10 to 20 games not that far from stock. Getting enough credits to buy anything when you never earn over 250k on an amazing games on a premium makes buying ships at higher tiers a challenge. My captains earn no exp either. I just got to a 15 point captain in my Neptune after 2 years of playing that line consistently. (For the record I average a 50% wi. Rate going between 48 to 52 high and lows. Just under 1k games played. I average about 48k damage in my unupgraded Neptune)

Has there ever been another ship where Flamu is like "Fuck it, this ship is so garbage no commander build is gonna help"

To be fair to WG, the Type 1936A destroyers with that 15cm turret, where among if not flat out the worst destroyers of WW2. They might be even worse than the Soviet Type 7 and Type 7U.* 😅 They paired an unreliable steam generation plant that was also inefficient, with 15cm guns that proved quite hard to manually load on a moving ship. On top of that, the hull had design flaws at both the bow and stern. The ships where already quite wet with a too low freeboard and the short bows tended to be too heavy even without the 15cm turrets, thus having poor flotation making them slam against waves instead of riding them. Further the stern design was bad which lead the ships to have even more stability issues next to the top weight issues created by the 15cm guns and other equipment. Then they carried little munition and not nearly enough fuel for the desired range. Oh and for some reason they needed massive crews, thus also being quite cramped ships. So basically, this ship is historically accurately modelled in game. 😂 *Gnevny in WoWS is a Type 7.

Well, historical accuracy or realism was never important to WG and this ship isn´t historically accurate either. It´s missing for example 1 turret, since it´s armament consisted of 4x1 15cm guns and since March 1943 1x2 and 3x1 15cm, and since it has the front turret with 2 guns, it should have 3 single turrets instead of 2. And it´s also missing the FuMO 21 Radar which would probably be Hydro in the Game.

This is impressive, considering the Genova is still in the game. I think the big saving grace of the Genova is that it doesn't survive as long as this one, so the games are shorter.

"Oh ok we'll nerf it." Literaly how the Z-31 was created.

Now I could be wrong, but I get the impression that you are somewhat...less than thrilled with the Z-31.

When a ship is so bad, a tier nobody plays is better than it in damage.

That tier one comparison is just unfair, it will never face them! How about getting dumpstered by a T-22 or having a "fair" gunfight with a Minekaze instead? Great balance indeed.

I really love the ''Unique design'' of this new tech tree. I think smoke generator consumable is a great idea to put on destroyers, cant wait to see ''Defensive'' AA Fire on Next tiers! WG did a great job making these UNIQUE DDs, its indeed what game needs with all those OP Montanas around, poor CVs they are getting powercrepped more and more. Big Brain move from WG. Make the new line so bad that the old one looks OP as hell.

I've found the T9 F. Schultz to be an enjoyable ship to play, but she really only shines when she's able to free fire at cruisers or broadside BB's. Because of her poor speed, maneuverability, detection, and dpm, you can never engage in cap contests against a good DD captain. So anytime you get into a game with a low number of DD's and you're basically robbing your team of a DD by playing something from this line, you really gotta hope the enemy team isn't competent enough to take advantage of your obvious weaknesses.

Remember when these mini-kreuzers were terrors in Navyfield? Pepperidge Farm remembers, though the farm is owned by the Chinese now. And Navyfield too.

The only reason they produce tech-tree lines like Vermont, Goliath and Elbing now is to force players to skip tiers by converting money to freexp, get tier X ASAP and forget it until September when ppl will play a round of co-op in those ships to get anniversary supercontainer.

And yet it will be popular, simply because its German and there is no shortage of wehraboos. Alternatively players will use Free Exp, goal that WG had in mind from day one about this ship, only explanation for this travesty of a ship.

WG: the spreadsheet says if you are making 50k DPM and a match lasts for 20 min you can do 1million damage which would be enough to wipe out 12 Tier 7 ships, so its balanced.

WG broke the 3 lines I was most excited for: British BBs: Was so excited for a line of Warspite-like ships. Got braindead HE spammers instead. German BBs: Was so excited for secondary builds, but they are straight up not viable. German DDs: Just....shit.

I find it perfectly believable that the line gets better afterwards. To be better than this mess of a ship, the Tier 8 would have to accomplish the great deed of being an okay tier 6 ship and so on

The name fits perfectly, wg really managed to do a good old 31 on this ship.

The only upside is that one tweak fixes the biggest downsides. Unfortunately, I can't see WG cutting the reload in half, certainly not in one update, and definitely not within the next six months

This thing will make you appreciate bad ships, like you could never imagine.

It's so bad, that it is good again. I often find myself in the back of enemy ships, who do not even bother to turn their guns to return fire. They have bigger fish to fry. And so I can just sit there and slow-motion farm them till the battle timer runs out :)

Well and remember basically half of the time you‘re sailing against the likes of Kitakaze, Östergötland, Mogador...good luck

If this was russian line, the dev would stay up night and day overwork to make a perfect ship.

Nah, perfect would mean balanced. But Russian ships are not balanced, they bring balans!

Seems to be a lot of fun playing this thing :-)

This is the ship EVERYBODY will pity seeing in the match regardless of side. I can see some gentlemanly arrangements happening between this ship and captains of battleships "okay, you can fire at me unmolested for as long as it takes you to cap. Nobody deserves to suffer. Hell, I'll even send you back to port afterward so you can play a nice relaxing match in the Krasny Krym"

When a ship is so bad he doest even bother with a build guide.

WG: lets use players as ship testers, but only choose players that love us and have high stats and extremely high play times WG: shocked when "test" results show every ship they make as doing too good *nerfs* WG: more shocked when everyone else gets them and are literally the worst performing ships in the game
