The full story of Yusha ibn Nun is told to us in a sahih hadith of the Prophet, sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam, recorded in Sahih Muslim 19/4327. The Prophet, sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said:
"One of the Prophets made a holy war. He said to his followers: One who has married a woman and wants to consummate to his marriage but has not yet done so; another who has built a house but has not yet erected its roof; and another who has bought goats and pregnant she-camels and is waiting for their offspring-will not accompany me … "
This Prophet did not want any person to come with him whose heart may be attached to anything else. This is a Prophet who is not looking for numbers but rather for ikhlas (sincerity).
The Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam, continued:
" ... So he marched on and approached a village at or about the time of the Asr prayers. He said to the sun: You are receiving orders and I am receiving orders from Allah, O Allah stop the sun! It was stopped for him until Allah granted him victory."
We know this Prophet was Yusha ibn Nun because of a separate narration recorded by Imam Ahmad in which the Prophet, sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said:
"The sun has never stopped for any man besides Yusha when he wanted to conquer Bayt al-Muqaddis."
"None of the ones who worshipped the calf entered into Jerusalem."
Have you not considered those who left their homes in many thousands, fearing death? Allah said to them, "Die"; then He restored them to life. And Allah is full of bounty to the people, but most of the people do not show gratitude. 2:243
Mohammad Ibn Ishaaq stated of Wahb Ibn Munbah said that when Allah took Kalih Ibn Yofra (Jephtha) after Joshua, Ezekiel Ibn Buzi succeeded him as the prophet to the Israelites. The people had fled from Palestine for fear of the plague and settled on a plateau. Allah said to them: "Die you all," and they all perished. A few centuries passed, and then Ezekiel, passing by, stopped over them, wondering. There came a voice: "Do you want Allah to resurrect them while you watch?" He said: "Yes." Then he was commanded to call those bones to join one to the other and to be covered with flesh. So he called them by the power of Allah, and the people arose and glorified Allah in the voice of one man.

very nice work may Allah grant you with jannah. But it says in the video that the sun was never stopped again for a human but i have readen a hadith where it says that the Allah teala stopped once the sun to rise because Ali a.s. was late for the fajr prayer and he should arive it.. allahu alem

+TheIslamicCinema I,m from the ahlu sunnah brother. I thought myself the comment sounded like shia but the hadith i saw at a sunni page. it said that Ali a.s. was hurrying for fajr prayer but because he didnt want to overtake an old man on his way, he got late. so when our Prophet s.a.s went into the first ruku the angel gibril got his wing on the prophet so he should stay on ruku until ali arrived the prayer and the sun was stopped rising..

+Hadis Mustafi You should not say AS after the name of Ali, this is something that shia's do. We say RadiAllahu anhu (may Allah be pleased with them) (RA) after we mention the name of a companion of the Prophet SAW. As for the hadith, I have never heard of it. Seems like a weak or fabricated hadith to be honest but Allahu Alem.

i think the title is a bit incorrect here. the Arabic translation for the name 'Joshua ben Nun' is 'Yashu'i bin Rahiba'. but of course, Prophet Muhammad has given Joshua his Islamic name of 'Yusha' bin Nun'. but for Ezekiel (Hebrew: Y'hez'qel), his name is Hizqial NOT Hizqil. his full name is Hizqial (Ezekiel) bin (Son of) Bwazi (Buzi).

I'm not questioning but out of curiosity. Allah AJW always was so merciful before he send a wrath to the ignorants and that was at once . But why, didn't Allah AJW at once brought that wrath on Bani 'Israel , yet he gave them 9 chances and so many more whilst Musa A.S (PBUH) was alive and the other prophet ? Why didn't he finish them at once like the others were.. ?
