Todo's sheer charisma and his explanation, about an applause is an acclamation of the soul, makes a lot of sense to someone like Mahito, someone who thinks of everything soul related, thus Mahito actually thought they'd switch. Mahito knew Todo needed hands, it is an obvious trigger for his CT, but if Todo understood the soul like Mahito did, theoritically, Todo could still Boogie Woogie.

Let me pose a question to you; why didn't yuji finish mahito on his own in S1, who was at the time at most high first grade, when in literally the next arc he was keeping up with Todo who is high first grade. Mahito couldn't touch his soul and as we've seen, he can tank serious injuries. Why did he need nanami and even with that, still couldn't kill him then

@@Hattori_864 that is a good question and it’s always something I’ve thought about too. I’ve always attributed it to Yuji and his humanity. Most of season 1 he struggled with the concept of even killing anything. It’s always been hard for me to see an MC that needs help and takes time to actually grow. But Yuji is one of my favorite MCs and he’s got potential

It's not any sort of powerscaling stuff, it's just the way the fight worked out -- Mahito got tricky and so he managed to fight another day.

@@Hattori_864 well Yuji lost all sympathy for mahito as soon as he killed junpei. But he’s still subject to psychological torture. Which is what mahito used all of season 2 to get to Yuji. Even though Yuji is so skilled at martial arts he doesn’t really know how to be a sorcerer. He’s a grade 3 at best because he has a cursed technique that he can barely use, he has no concept of accepting the death that comes with what he does (something he is just now starting to accept), my point is that he’s a sorcerer that is from the ground up and I like that he’s an MC that actually goes through the pain and nuance that a normal person would go through if they were in his shoes. You can see him learn and develop his techniques. Not already be OP like Gojo. He’s my favorite because he seems more realistic. If that makes sense And yea, it’s just how the fight worked out. Mahito is a trickster, Yuji got tricked. He’s been hitting the ground running since shibuya started which has only like been a few hours lol. And in that span, he was forced to sit back and watch thousands be massacred, watched his mentor die and one of his closest friends be killed. The psychological damage would be too much for a beginner like Yuji which is EXACTLY why mahito is approach him the way he is.
