I witnessed her live in Berlin the 17th of May, it was incredible :D She played Beethoven, Schönberg, Ligeti, Scriabin, Albéniz, Kapustin, and almost a DOZEN encore pieces, each one separated by a lot of (standing) applause and Yuja bows of course :D

I love how she bows. It's like suddenly her back just breaks at the hip. BAM.

going down that fast is possible, but how she gets back up straight that fast, try it, not only it's not easy but it tells something about her piano athleticism.

Yuja is so powerful and adorable at the same time

And then she did the ENTIRE Rachmaninov concerto set (1-4) + rhapsody run-through. What an absolute feat to take on.

Her reaction when she tries the play the violin is very relatable.

i feel like she consciously tries to be as laid back and confident as she can so that it will reflect in her playing. like, if you force yourself to smile, your brain will be tricked to give the happy hormones (:D). so i see the bowing as relaxing before and after such intense focusing. it also just looks very graceful and dancer-esque, i admire her unapologetic attitude so much as a hunchbacked mouse

When asked about the way she bows Yuja said the deep bow is to show her appreciation for the audience who comes to see her craft. I might add it's also a culturally Asian thing in that a deeper bow is a common expression to show respect and gratitude.

She's a beautiful person ❤️ I witnessed her when she came to Peru 🇵🇪, my country, to give an amazing piano concert. She is indeed very talented and one of my favorite pianists

Yuja Wang is the BOMB!! I love this video showing more of her personality. Any pianist could only aspire to play as well and emotionally as she does.

When Piergiorgio is listening to Yuja playing at 11 years old at the end, and leaves the room in disgust (obviously feeling unworthy), that was so funny! Though in reality, this is pretty much how so many of us pianists feel. I thank God every day that I am at the very least a decent composer....Ha! ... Peace! 🎼❤☮

I guess I could call myself a piano prodigy, and I can relate to this. I can sight read pieces, and hard ones, incredibly fast. I recognize chord progression, and I have very good technique, and I learn quick as a result of this.

The refreshing thing here is ,she’s human. But she works a lot as well - something about 10,000 hrs of practise……:-)

The guy in the second clip is Tarmo Peltokoski, a Finnish pianist, composer and conductor. I've been in a piano competition with him (he won easily) and I've seen him live twice since that. I can tell you, that guy is a genius. His improvisation skills are unbelievable. He does these encores where he improvises pieces based on popular tunes suggested by the audience. And on top of that, he's also the nicest and funniest guy!

Yeah, I’m totally like the last guy. Yuja makes me feel like a baboon when I sit at the piano.

When Kreisler heard Heifetz play, he is said to have remarked, "We might as well take our fiddles and break them across our knees." Every time I hear Yuja Wang play, I want to fill my piano with water to the brim and drown myself in it. And I'm a violinist. I can't imagine what pianists feel like.

@@slots1407 Reminds me of a comment by Baryshnikov. He said (I'm paraphrasing): "I would come home from a performance where I thought just had the best performance of my life. I would turn on the television and there would be Fred Astaire and I knew I couldn't even compare." Incredible how someone so talented can be so hard on themselves. (I also heard something similar from Ms. Wang.)

I'm somewhat an old fashion person at 68 years old and sometimes I'm critical of modern stuff, but Yuja wang is so great at she does that everything has to be forgiven when it comes to her dress code. Her virtuosi is so great that nothing else matters. God Bless her.

@@bencallender5061 nothing I’m just in trouble. I don’t remember what I said in our last ft call bc I was too drunk. I had two friends and I brought them to my room cuz one got too drunk and threw up. And when I brought them there I was apparently cussing a lot and my parents heard it so yeah. You have no idea how simplified that is.

The ending could not be more relatable, and I didn’t even know some devil composer named Franz Liszt existed.

oh god! I'm 16 (turned 16 on Monday) and I can only play Chopin's ballade no.1 and Clair de Lune in terms of "big pieces". that last part when she was 11 was just depressing to watch, but still, she is just absolutely amazing!!!!!

Chopin's first ballade is no joke! Lots of challenges leading into the coda and of course the coda itself. But you're right, there's no doubt hearing her play like that was at least a little bit depressing hahaha

@@PiergiorgioWilson yeah, I taught it to my self without a teacher (I’m not self taught tho 😳) and when I started in November last year, I remember I kept saying to myself I couldn’t do it. I learnt some new things about my hands and their ability XD. Anyway, watching Yuja tho just is a whole different perspective, I mean watching most high end pianists is just jaw dropping.

@@LTD-Limited if want to find more cool things your hands can do i would def suggest learning chopin’s 17th waltz. it’s so fun and dramatic. there isn’t any significant key changes and the left and basically stays the same the whole time but it sounds so familiar, like i’ve know it my whole life

@@jamesrawlins735 I thought of the same thing but somehow I get a feeling that the Two Set Violin is not too keen about Yuja. They goof around a lot but are quite conservative in some ways and I think Yuja hits some nerves in them. For example, Brett had a disapproving reaction to Yuja showing her annoyance to her page turner in one of the videos.
