Two artists with good taste playing Rachmaninoff, who was also well known for his good taste! No jumping up and down on the piano bench and making silly grimaces like so many other pianists do! Simply beautiful piano playing with a natural flow...like Rachmaninoff himself!

But she worked hard so is not something freely given, usually jealousy occurs when we think someone is unjustly better, by nature, by heritage and such. But then there is music and Lugansky is in. Yuja Wang is a meteor which polishes surfaces, not a sun to light through history.

I love Yuja, and I love piano, but the name of the channel should be "The Best of Classical Piano Music, Featuring Yuja Wang". If I created a channel and called it the Best of Classical Music and it was all classical guitar and mostly Andres Segovia I do think people would also object.

New to me this work. Felt the comments below were less than truthful. Perhaps there were technical rather than pianistic issues occasionally. Funnily enough I felt that Rachmaninoff came at this piece from somewhere in the midst of his thinking-doesn't give a beginning to end idea. Perhaps this is a deconstructed effort? Different, but thanks for it though.

@@georgescancan7503 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. People more astute as you have remarked many times about Yuja's good looks. I haven't watched Khatia Buniatishili, so I have nothing to say about her, but for you to say that Yuja is mediocre show's your ignorance. She is invited to play with top orchestras and conductors all over the world. I think they are better judges of her talent than you. Perhaps your idea of what red light district hookers look like come from personal experience. Saying you're not a prude is like Trump saying he isn't a raciest. The fact that she has chosen to not wear the traditional old lady dresses of past women pianists has no influence on the outcome of the beautiful music she is able to create. I'd suggest you find your amusement elsewhere than on classical music channels.

This was a waste of time to listen to. Speed for show and no music. Two pianists not connecting with each other and no feeling whatsoever. Of course, today's public is impressed by this showmanship over musicianship and at the end seem to be applauding at a ball game. I expected more from these two stellar pianists.

Awful. It's way to fast . They don't care about the music at all and treat it like a technical exercise or a contest of "let's see how fast we can play this." Great technique and absolutely horrendous and very unmusical musicianship.

Yuja and Nikolaj are pretty faithful to Rachmaninoff's intentions here. Rachmaninoff normally played his music rather matter of factly so I think he would agree with these break neck paces. If you listen to Rachmaninoff's own playing of his third piano concerto, he plays the finale very quickly, so much so that I would think you would say that it would be absurdly fast if you didn't know that it was indeed Rachmaninoff himself playing.
