I'm not the biggest fan of it. To me it felt there was too much dueling and not enough other scene's. Also the signer world just seems like a downgrade from 5Ds. While in 5DS the security was usually the antagonist they had a lot of moral gray about them. The only one who was definitively evil was the prison warden and even with him it was going against orders. Most of the security were quite professional and just doing their job, they didn't seem to have much sadism about them aside from the satisfied grin when they won. But Ushio would keep his word and played fairly and even was open minded to things. Rex was above it all and didn't derive pleasure from oppressing satellite, there were several security showed in a positive light like the one who saved Taka's life during a gang attack. Also the people of the sattalite are not always positive either as a lot are violent thugs who only look out for themselves. I also don't like Yuya and how he's so judgmental. That if you disagree with him you are a bad person. While other Yu-Gi-Oh protagonists have had that they weren't as aggressive about it nor as specific.

Can't wait to see it. I love GX and you had some very clear points. Arc V, to me, shit the bed far more. It had a great idea, then tried to be 5ds so hard it rushed the time in two other dimensions... and that ending.

One duel from GX that impressed me the most is, believe it or not, Chronos/Crowler vs. Camula. That sh!t made me back then cried. It wasn't denial. It was determination. It wasn't "It doesn't exist." It was "It must not exist." It was beautiful.

Oh my god i'm so glad someone else agreed because even though it seemed like some minor duel to most, it was the beginning of the redemption of Crowler and we get to see him lighten up towards Jaden and the other Slifer Red students more often afterwards. I really love that episode and I especially love Crowler's character in the dub, GX could have been more but i'm happy with what it was

8:05 The actual reason why Manjoume had to duel his brother for control of the academy is exactly what you just said a minute before. It’s because Seto Kaiba is petty. His brother made the challenge and Kaiba said “Ok if one of my students can’t beat you losers the whole schools worthless anyway, go for it and give the kid whatever stupid handicap you want.”

WHY...HOW...FUCK EVERYTHING!!! Best reaction ever.

Zane is one of me favourite characters in GX, and one of me all time favourite characters. I cried when he died, I felt sad when he went downhill and it broke my heart seeing him fighting Syrus and being the complete opposite of the man he used to be. We follow him through his highs and lows, and like you pointed out he had a lot of unfinished business when he passed, which made it bittersweet. If they'd have left him dead it would've made everything so much more powerful, and when rewatching we can maybe appreciate the character more knowing his fate, but the fact he just washes up on a beach which just happened to be at Duel Acadamey just ruined all that buildup. I get he's a popular character, but it cheapens everything he's gone through when they just shrug and use plot armour to save him without even an explanation. It's also sad seeing him rendered useless, for lack of a better term, because he can't duel. I think death would've been a better fate for such a strong character, especially because we only see him, what, twice in season 4? If they really wanted Zane/Ryo to be in that season, show us flashbacks to when he and Syrus were kids, or him interacting with Atticus. That'd be way more powerful because they could show parts of Zane we didn't see, like maybe he had a bit of a fun side, while also making his death more tragic I love this show, and it's a shame it gets hated on because of dumb moments. But at least we got some epic duels and badass characters Also I wrote this while my dog (called Zane half after the GX character) is on me bed nudging my arm so apologies if it doesn't make much sense

I think at one point after they found him in season 4 Miss Fontaine mentions that Zane can make a full recovery. At least I'm pretty sure I remember some line to that effect. So I don't think he would have been wheelchair bound forever. What I hated is that he was barely in season 4. I thought he would have least showed up at the graduation ceremony to see Syrus graduate. That seemed like it would have been a good moment between the brothers.

Another thing that is baffling: In season 3 when the school is stuck in the desert dimension, just where are the other female students besides Alexis and Blair? They only ever showed male student zombies. And just where was Atticus? He was still a student then. Did he just take practically the whole female student population on vacation or something before the school got warped into another dimension?

The Manga was superior in allmost every way. And, funnily enough: Both of Judais ace-cards in the anime and the manga were based on the same super-hero (Both Neos as well as Terra-Firma are homages to the Japanese super-hero "Ultraman". Neos even mimicks Ultramans signature attack pose on the picture Judai drew that got sent into space.)

Manjoume beating Edo was good and amazing, but losing to Judai, and on PURPOSE, makes absolutely no sense. Throughout the series, his main motivation and goal has been to go pro and defeat Judai in a duel. And right in that duel, he had this golden...no...PLATINUM opportunity to defeat him in front of the whole school and whoever else was watching on TV at the time cause it was an official PRO LEAGUE event. There he was, made it as a pro, play one trap and you will triumph over your rival. And WHAT does Manjoume do? He THROWS the f*cking duel because his shady producer told him to! The SAME shady producer who cares only about entertainment and money and ratings, who's at odds with Edo Phoenix (who was Manjoume's BOSS at the time) and he SAW they were at odds because he kept trying to convince Edo to let him rig his duels. Why in the world would Manjoume listen to someone like him, especially after Manjoume saw how hard Edo trains every day (1000 duels in a single day, I can't even comprehend, and that's when he's NOT busy with events and matches), after he learned of Edo's philosophy of always giving it your all in a duel regardless of what others tell you and after he SAW that philosophy put into practice, not to mention everything Edo did for him at the time: hiring him as his manager, teaching him how to organize himself and deal eith stressful situations, giving him the job of organizing his card collection so he can subconsciously practise combos and bringing him to so many events all across the world so he builds relations in the pro league. And after all this, THIS is how Manjoume repays him? By becoming a literal mockery of everything he stands for? And why would Manjoume go with it in the first place? Manjoume is a great and proud duelist, but no longer arrogant after returning from north academy: he knows when someone is stronger than him, and while losing still stings him, he accepts the outcome. And while he did become a comic relief character (mostly because of the ojamas), he didn't enjoy it. And because of all this, no way in hell should he agree to wearing a stupid ojama costume, ridiculing himself in public and live, on TV, when his brothers might be watching and on purpose, nor should he agree to throwing the duel against HIS RIVAL which he would have known. But alas, this is what happened, and it makes absolutely no bloody sense

And a duel much larger and powerful when Chazz finally wins and decide to go to pro leagues and says that he wants jaden to pro leagues but jaden refuses and chazz says that if he changed his idea he would have a place for him and thats a final better

I always assumed sending the cards into space is similar to the reason real world people have sent dumb shit like music, cars, etc into space. Either because they can, or because they wanted a relic of culture to possibly reach intelligent life.

This is something I just thought of while watching your segment on Chazz. What if the reason why he had the connection with Ojama yellow and later couldnt get rid of them the Ojama brothers is because secretly its what he has always wanted with his brothers. The connection and how much "fun" the Ojama brothers have when they are together is something Chazz probably wanted as a child but never got. This should have been explored in the show but thats my headcanon reason why Ojamas are so important to Chazz.

i'm also pretty confident you're right here considering after beating his brother in the handicapped duel, he hits them with "the ojamas may be annoying and are a pain to put up with but they taught me that good brothers support each other no matter the circumstances" which was super good growth of his character, n i feel like the guy who made this video just ignored it entirely. the ojamas are definitely used for low brow humor but they're also so much more than that n he just kinda ignored it

Whilst I do agree with you on most of this, especially with Ryus arc. The Judai arc of Season 3 doesn't bother me because whilst his friends do end up alright in the end and as pointless as that entire event may seem because they survive. In reality it does effect Judai as a character and his growth throughout his arc in Season 4. When Judai returns from the alternate dimension after fusing with Yubel he becomes a completely different character, not only haunted by what he has done as the supreme king, but the regret and remorse he displays for harming his friends throughout that story, he becomes completely withdrawn from Duel academies life, outright skipping classes and avoiding his friends for the most part. He spends most of his time within his dorm room with Professor Banner. Out right struggling with what I would say a form of depression because of what happened. We see this throughout his style of dueling in this arc also, opting to finishing duels extremely quickly with Neos rather than using his fusions. He sees dueling through a different light now, no longer seeing it as a game to have fun but an integral part of keeping everybody safe from danger, he loses his passion for dueling and the only time he does duel is when he is confronted by the antagonists of Season 4 through Honest and his friend {Can't remember the dudes name Ryus friend who went missing.} Trueman and Darkness. He does duel a few other times such as when Satorious confronts Judai when he wants to leave the academy as he feels guilty for what he has done in the previous arc and feels he is the one responsible for endangering everybody. Also that duel tournament where he tags with Asuka but he outrights duels for himself not really helping her out at all which causes their dilemma and rift for that moment. Its not until Judai confronts his demons and defeats Darkness that he accepts his part in all of the previous arcs and feels like he should move on from duel academy. His Arc then closes when it comes full circle as he duels Yugi/Atem to rediscover his love for dueling. The point I'm going with this, is whilst Season 3 kinda feels irrelevant from a certain standpoint with all of his friends coming back, the impact of such events and what Judai was responsible for in that arc does have an impact which directly ties into his growth throughout the final season. It does feel like a cop-out, but honestly I like how they came back *With the exception of Ryu* Because not only does Judai have to face them this way, he also has to confront his demons he feels because of what he has done. I did not mean for this to become so long my apologies ^^"

Yeah the whole "It wasn't a heartattack but instead the cyberdark deck slowly killing him" really sucked. Him dying of a heart attack because of all the electro shocks suffered from underground duels fit so well into his character. Season 3 and to an extent Season 4 is the reason to watch Yugioh GX. Yubel turns everything it touches into gold.

@@luminous3558 Ngl I don't really have a gripe with the reasoning as the underworld deck was a forbidden deck for a reason and I'm kinda glad they addressed why its such a dangerous deck with this retcon. My issue with it is that he didn't stay dead, heck having his heart failure be a combination of both the underground dueling and the underworlds deck effect would be better imo. Its just the fact they brought him back is what I have the most issue with. If they wanted Syrus {His original name escapes me right now Sho I think?} To inherit the Cyber Deck they could have easily had Ryus cards wash up on shore and not Ryu himself and Sho could come to terms with the deck and it would be more memoriable and emotional. I love Yubel also, I have to admit I found season 2 and 3 rather boring. I didn't really enjoy the alternate dimension it was just to bleak and bland for my taste but I really respect its build up to the events of season 4 and some of the ideas such of the Supreme King and Yubel where really well executed from a narrative perspective. Oh right oops Mark Hunt is my throwaway account, sorry if I brought any confusion. ^^"

Yeah I'm okay with Jaden's friends coming back as well, I mean, did the content creator or anyone really think they were gonna kill off four major Yugioh characters just like that? I always kinda thought it would be like a Seal of Orichalchos deal where people temporarily lose their souls to Leviathan. It's like another commenter said, Yugioh is a lot like Avengers Infinity Saga where most characters don't really die but what happens to them is still overall important for the story and characters. The point is like you said, the impact of what Jaden did as Supreme King and his obsession with Jesse still does impact his character and Jaden's arc is probably the best of all Yugioh protagonists still.

I agree with all your points. But I think that Judai's season 4 character development is actually pretty good, among the best in the series and deserved some commentary. They way the writers handled him falling out of love with dueling was interesting and the payoff when he learns to enjoy himself again felt well deserved.

I felt like the 4th season was way too short though. =/ I really liked his character developement as well. (Like poof, puperty! now you're more serious!) I also liked that his friends weren't automatically cool with it with his short notice drastical change in mentallity. Season 3 already broke the happy-go-lucky-fassade bit by bit until it completely shattered. (To be fair, back then i expected him to pull through in the most absurd idiotic way and be back with the happy attitude, so it felt quite nice to see him not do that)

I hate Season 4 the most since everyone (manjoume, syrus, alexis, Edo, etc) in th Gx world (except Jaden) got defeated off screen by mob character that appear out of nowhere. During Atticus duel, it supposed to be him defeat that adversary since all his character development lead up to that point, not jaden AGAIN! Chronicle of Gx is all about Jaden soloing the enemy general and its boss. Other character only serve as fooder to glorify him.

Season 4 had the most potential and had the best arc, but it was rushed because the powers that be were greedy for extra $$$

Golden Frieza Manjoume/Chazz had a lot of wins against jobbers and unknown duelist, he’s also lost against Jaden like 10 fucking times even in duels he should’ve won (like the duel against Jaden RIGHT after Manjoume had that whole break down in the bathroom about how he has to win to not be considered a failure in his family). Anime Manjoume/Chazz was WASTED potential especially when you see his manga counterpart (Who was actually good enough to defeat Jaden and considered a rival against Zane who still shitstomped him in the manga)

It makes wish Chazz had the Red-Eyes deck instead of what he got in the anime The manga alone showed that yes Chazz should be using a Deck of Dragons. As for his ace it should've been something like Light and Darkness Dragon but as a fusion of a Red-Eyes and Light Dragon monster to represent that yes he focuses on power like Kaiba which the Light Dragon would represent, but Chazz shows that he has begun to unlock his potential which Red-Eyes represent. Looking back at that duel many times in episodes and in fanfiction like Anthony said they should've ended in Chazz's loss but I think after Jaden's speech about what Dueling is all about showing Chazz duels for himself. As for his duel spirit I wish he didn't have Ojamas and have something like Red-Eyes B. Chick a DARK Dragon monsters to parallel Jaden's Winged Kuriboh which is a LIGHT Fairy monster.

As a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh! wasted potential has always been my biggest criticism of any of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Anime series (And Shonen series in general now that I think about it)

I'll leave out GX because this video covered most of it and even covered some topics I didn't give much thought DM I find hard to judge, my biggest gripes with it though is main cast characters being sidelined (ex: Tristan and Tea) and the fact they went from all kinds of games to the whole show revolving around just the card game, that said if it weren't for that we wouldn't be here discussing Yu-Gi-Oh! today, so I'm willing to give that a pass. 5D's: The filler episodes between the Dark Signer and Grand Prix arc sucking up a whole lot of time, causing them to run out off time making in my opinion Arc Cradle seem rushed Aki, Lifestream Dragon and Rua being sidelined for Crow (Don't get me wrong, I like Crow as a character, doesn't mean I agree with setting up Aki as a potential rider for the Grand Prix only for it to go nowhere. Lifestream dragon being foreshadowed during the Dark Signer Arc and doesn't show up until the show is almost over and then barely does anything, Rua becoming a Signer effectively being pointless) Rua and Luka relegated to cheerleading after the Dark Signer Arc Arcadia set-up going no where, same with Yliaster's sudden change (I know why this happened, doesn't mean I agree with it. Don't give us a set-up if you can't deliver on it) ZeXal: Honestly I barely remember anything from this one, but my biggest pet peeves with ZeXal are Yuma limiting himself to using N39, even when he was becoming a better duelist when he had other numbers in his arsenal that would've been better for the situation. Characters being introduced and becoming part of Yuma's fan club, only for them to do absolutely nothing later on. Arc-V: Oh boy, Arc-V here we go First of, the opportunity to fix the timeline, or give us some explanation how all the series tie together being squandered Characters being introduced then being sidelined for new characters Friendship cup eating up so many episodes XYZ and Fusion end up being rushed Yuzu going from competent to damsel in distress Arc-V / Merging of dimensions going nowhere Leo Akaba going from intelligent and competent villain to goof Reira becoming a vessel for Ray and Zarc Zarc's foreshadowing being so much better than the pay-off No actual character development for Zarc "Defeat Zarc by making a baby laugh" Link Vrains: Haven't seen the entire series yet, can't judge it yet, didn't have high hopes for it after Arc-V though and thought I'd just take it as it is. My issue with the Yu-Gi-Oh! series and Shonen anime in general (I know why it's this way, doesn't mean I agree with it): Characters being introduced, given some background, trying to get us to care for them. only for them to be sidelined for new characters with the older characters barely having any development/screen time from then on. Shonen's general lack of pre-planned story and just throwing at the wall to see what sticks without giving any further development to things that didn't land immediately and popular characters getting all the screen time. Shonen anime tend to give some foreshadowing here and there of potential plot points or allude to an explanation for something only for them to be never being touched upon again

@@Hewhowantstoknow This is one of the reasons why I prefer Cardfight Vanguard and Buddyfight anime series. Sure theses shows aren't perfect and some seasons weren't that good (Legion Mate,GZ and Buddyfight DDD) but least their don't waste their potential frequency as Yugioh. Also the writing (for the most part) characters and visuals are consistent. Yugioh seriously needs better writers and directors because the series is currently having a case of franchise fatigue. What's a point of having new ideas if you just going to repeat the same mistakes. Poor Anna, Chazz, Leo, Shun, Sora, Serena, Carly, and Aki they deserved better.

@@damienthonk1506 Meh. Buddyfight may had two weak seasons being DDD and X but they were never as bad as Yu-Gi-Oh post Zexal. Arc V post S1 was bad. Vrains was broken garbage. Sevens is cringe. Vanguard post G least had G Next and V Shin arc which were pretty good. Buddyfight Ace is the best season of the series.

My favourite character is Dr. Crowler.

The Gravekeeper Assailant Yasmin is a wasted character. She asked Judai to give a message to the brother of Asuka. He never did it and it was left by it.

Yugioh GX will always be my favourite ygo series no matter how much time passes haha- flaws and all, I love it

I honestly liked the Ojamas and the way Chazz slowly came to appreciate and defend them. It was a perfect combination because Chazz was selfish and only cared about himself but the Ojama trio are all about unity between siblings. The Dark Scorpion episode where Chazz is revealed to take in all kinds of duel spirits that had been abandoned just showed how much he grew in terms of compassion and selflessness.

I loved the Ojamas they were hilarious in the dub. Someone said that the Ojamas represent the brotherly love that Chazz never had with his own brothers.

My issue with GX is for a duel academy with a assemble cast 95% of the duels are by Jaden. I would have liked to see the cast more involved.

EAce a guy who repurposed a military base island into a tournament arena and then blew it up when he lost. A guy who created a way to travel to the afterlife just to duel Atem one more time. A guy who bought whole cities and forced them to use the cards as an actual currency. A guy who's ego is so large it stopped magic from killing him like everyone else. Sending cards into space to teach aliens is rather mild.

I remember watching this show in high school and liking it a lot because i was ending my senior year and it was kind of relatable since the characters also grow in a school environment until graduation. But yeah there's just so many problems with it. Yugioh as a whole just doesn't want to commit to death, which makes a lot of the shadow duels meaningless. This was an issue in the original duel monsters, as well.

@Shaman Xeed I'll give you pegasus and keith. I'll also give you the three zombie dudes that bakura kills. But im moreso talking about during shadow duels. When Mai fought Marik, she should've died. When joey fought Marik and "lost", he also should've died. Their character development was pretty much done at that point and there was no reason for them to still stay alive. It just made marik as a villain very underwhelming despite his creepiness. At the end of the day he didn't really do much besides stand there and laugh a lot.

@Shaman Xeed The issue is that these characters had no reason to exist after their duels. There was a heartwarming scene of joey dying, but it's just immediately taken away because you know he's going to come back. Their deaths would've made the stakes a lot higher for yugi to defeat marik, for vengence for killing two of his friends. instead we pretty much know that joey (and mai) are going to come back in the very episode he dies in, and through bullshit power of friendship or whatever he does eventually come back. I had no problem with joey losing the duel like he did; it was bullshit from a rules perspective but i can understand why it was done that way, to show how powerful and evil dark marik is. Too bad none of what marik does matters in the long run because he does literally nothing in the entire battle city arc.

@Shaman Xeed Who gives a shit if the main story doesn't "revolve around marik and his tenacity"? He's one of the 3 main villains of the show. His "opposition" was very underwhelming is what I'm getting at. He was, as this video titles states, wasted potential. Joey returning from being burned alive by RA, a fucking god, is absolutely stupid and greatly diminishes marik's threat level and the concept of shadow games in general, where if you lose, you die. Yeah he wanted the god cards to rule the world, but there's nothing wrong with adding another reason for Yugi to beat marik. It could also add to how him searching for his memories is hurting people close to him, which is a point he brought up, but doesn't mean much when nothing substantial really happened to anyone at the end of the tournament. The entire scene with joey dying was pointless because Yugi saw a vision of him coming back in the very same episode he died in. "Wtf are you even talking about?" Joey coming back to life was due to him dreaming about the friends he made in duels during his coma.

You can make characters interesting and threatening without it relating to the main story of a show. Characters and their development and interactions with other characters is a thing, and often times doesn't even have relate to the main plot.

They could've also made it such that joey died after his duel with marik, but then came back AFTER yugi beat him, adding more pressure for yugi to beat him.

I think the final duel is also a great one. The stakes are high with darkness but most of all it's just so relatable. That fear of failure, that uncertainty. They really tapped into that. I watched it during my final year of high school and I could completely relate to those fears of darkness. I think manjome was the best. In that instead of fearing failure and surrendering he decides to stand up and face it head on. That there is no reason to fear because you will always find a way to climb back up again.

The problem with GX is that a lot of plot lines are left unresolved and unexplored like North Academy and seasons one and two villains simply being glossed over upon conclusion without affecting much.

Although I don't dislike GX, I have to agree with all the points you made. GX tries so hard to be edgy/dark while at the same time being too afraid to have consequences. I personally always think of characters coming back to life such as in Zane's case, to be the show's "for legal reason", since it's a children's show

I don't think its a kids show in japan at least not anymore than one piece or naruto, both of which feature death from pretty early on. They needed their cast for s4 as there was no time or reason to introduce new characters for a short final season. The deaths in s3 with exception of ryo kinda sucked as well. It wouldve been a terrible end for their characters to just die to some minor villain.

But in my opinion, it's different from animes like One Piece or Naruto in a way that Yugioh ultimately need to promote their merchandise to be sold to kids (at least originally). We can also compare it to Pokemon anime, which also doesn't include death and needs to promote their game and toys. I would like to compare it to BeyBlade, Bakugan, B-Daman to see whether they have character deaths or not, but I have near zero knowledge about their anime, I couldn't say much.

@@akobitoma7452 Beyblade features character death but got censored in the dub, Bakugan has it as well. Haven't seen B-Daman. The only reason Yugioh exists today is because people were a fan of the duel monsters game in Kazuki Takahashi's first YuGiOh manga(S0) and wanted it to be real. So unlike pokemon whose product was clearly targeted at kids from the start Yugioh originates from a manga that prominently features tons of death and violence, so its kinda weird to market the game to children. Of course Yugioh DuelMonsters toned it down a bit as it got adapted into an anime and finally 4kids censored everything that was left over. I'm not saying that its a show targeted at adults with no intent to draw in younger viewers, its like most shonen anime targeted at 12-16 year olds. If you want examples of kids anime then look no further than recent seasons of beyblade, Duel Masters, Bakugan and Yugioh Sevens. All those shows share this "kids show artstyle" and have either started with it in mind or at some point made a switch to actively appeal to kids. This is also different from shows simply appealing to all ages. It should also be noted that japan is much more open to the concept of death being depicted in anime than america even if the audience includes kids. Now I'm unsure why everyone always seems to group things into either kiddy stuff or 16/18+ stuff. I can only assume that in regards to YuGiOh this mainly spawned from LittleKuribohs YGOTAS memeing "Childrens Cardgames" into the ground for its entire run time.

Except all of the deaths in the manga were unimportant characters which got censored when it became an anime about duel monsters so that they could market it to kids. The same with pokemon bakugan and other gaming anime which exist for merchandising reasons.

Yuki Judai's season 4 redesign is the best

Idk this anime is one of my guilty pleasures i mean i always've known that it has a lot of mistakes but ironically i really enjoyed Judai's character, i think for the most part the duels were fun, and sometimes creative also the designs of elemental heroes were great.

It might be that it's the spirits that decide who can see them. Jaden gives them good vibes so thru all let him see them. Yellow just if a freak and wanted to show Chaz the real him straight away?

Pretty late on commenting a two year old video but I always interpreted Kaiba sending cards into space as an analog or reference to the Voyager golden records - when America sent music, art, and photos to portray life on Earth to any intelligent life that may have come across the Voyager spacecraft. In Yu-Gi-Oh!, where Duel Monsters is a central core of society, children’s trading cards are a totally rational thing to cram in there. But that was always just my interpretation.

This show had a lot of problems, but I'm gad I watched it.

I always reasoned that the reason for Duel Academy was more like a scholarship. Like how football players in high school can get pulled into a good collage/university just because they can play rather well. And the reason we never seen other classes was because they never cared enough to show it.

We see some classes like PE when they play baseball or tennis. Some of this is filler but it makes sense not to show the boring classes.

But they showed PE, history, chemistry, physics, FRIGGIN ALCHEMY, they have a tennis court, a baseball field, so there ARE others activities and studies besides just dueling. And it makes sense, because even if someone manages to enroll in the duel academy, it's not a guarantee they'll be good at it or manage to make a living out of it, so having others studies as a failsafe is logical and practical

Tbh GX's problems mostly stem from it's underuse of characters who don't get called Judai/Jaden and their overabundance. Some were cool such as Edo, Kaiser and even O'brien and Manjoume but they just got shoved to the side and let's not even say anything about Sho and Asuka etc who don't even do much after the first season.

In the philippines only season 1 of gx is available

GX was my fav series out of the Yugioh ones. I liked how Jaden matured and felt more real than all the other yugioh characters that feel a bit stagnant throughout their series. Unfortunately, there are a lot of gx episodes that feel like a waste of time and could have been used for a better plot rather than showing off new cards for selling the card game purposes. The dark dorm, the sacred beasts, supreme king and yubel are really awesome ideas that came out of the series. Too bad some of it feels like it wasn’t delve into enough; if season 4 would have been longer I imagine they would have went into the supreme king more and his history that was relatively unexplored

that's mostly first season though.... also those episodes are for showing fun duels.

But in manga version, Majome Thunder play very big role

8:30 I really like that duel. I always like it when the "good guy" is handicapped in some way and so their usual tactics don't work anymore. I also really loved the time when Yusei had to duel against Armstrong and he had just a deck that was a random assortment of cards.

super minor thing I prefered from the dub (at least a bit). when they send Neos and Yubel to space, they say it was infused with "Cosmic Energy", instead of Justice.

For me personally I thought Gx was fine although I can see the issues you had with it they did not bother me. For one I knew that although Gx and all the Yugioh series can get dark killing off that many characters would not sell the show that well and that in Yugioh not all characters permanently stay dead. For example Marik and Bakura as well as many others in DM but also the Dark Signers in 5ds, it was said that once they had a signer duel someone was dying. For me if they had kept someone like Carly dead after her development with Jack had come this far it would've carried more weight just as Kaiser's did in 5ds but, agian this is a kids show and I know not all characters come back after dying like Viper and Amon/Echo. Also for me I felt Gx's character , Jaden, still has one of the best development for a Yugioh protagonist out of all other Yugioh protagonists from a childish boy to actually maturing into an adult in the last arc. For me Gx was pretty good I liked how most of the characters grew. From Jadens maturing to Edo realizing what carrying on his father's legacy meant to O'Brien getting over fear. Even Crowler who didn't like people like Jaden, in the end seeing his students grow up and inevitable have to leave the Academy carried weight. And some one like Asuka(although it wasn't delved into that much) and her future had me hooked and going to the very end.I felt that for Gx the journey was what I liked about it. Because as a viewer I did get to see some heart wrenching moments and character growth. But, I can still say it could've been better than what it was but this series was far from a waste of time for me.

No its not the west marketed as a kids show if the show didn't want death then they didn't have to add it as a stake device the kids show argument is a Western custom there is no age rating in the east so its something to think about but it debunks your entire argument on the kids show front

I feel your pain brother.

Even as a kid watching this series for the first time I saw GX's potential for greatness slip away as it went on. Part of me still hopes that it will be remade into a show better than the original ygo series.

I liked GX wish season 4 could been dubbed cuz I loved GX better than every season after 1 of 5ds

Mark Welch DM and 5Ds are meant to be the best even though we all know 5Ds only has one decent (though it is very good) season and some people know GX is better than DM not being that controversial
