The ‘promises’ directly connect to later stories, but here it says ‘About Xiao’ - a divine being of Liyue. Innocent and kind, this is probably how he was in the past. I like the scene in his Character Demo where he’s being held by these bonds and he breaks them, and he says “The price I pay for eons of slaughter” (I’m using the official translation here for this line). But to Xiao, the past is full of lots of regret, and when you think about what the Xiao of that time was thinking and doing, it’s really nasty, but the current Xiao has overcome that and is here now. I also think his idle animations are really sad. There’s one where this light floats down to him, this is in the 1.3 PV too, but when he tries to reach out for the light... Zoom in and look at his expression! Please! He goes to touch the light, but the light escapes from him and he lowers his hand and hangs his head. And his expression is so well done, when you know what his past is like and you see that, you can cry! That’s how well it’s done. And it’s not even voiced! > Is there anything you and Xiao have in common, or anything that sets you apart? We’re both introverted and things we say are difficult to understand. I think that when watching this, at one point or another you’ve been like “What is this person talking about??” Yeah. ショウの好きなセリフはリーユエ最終戦での「承知した」ですね〜。実装前でしたけど、キャラの性格がよく分かる一言で惹かれましたね。冷静さと覚悟と優しさを感じました。
