So basically priority was an old mechanic that essentially gave monster effects quick effect. Glad that was taken out. But then they just made a buncha new monsters with built in priority.

That depends on your opponent using ring in a very specific way. In scenarios like these, it is assumed that ring will be used in the way that will prevent you from winning. so torrential will resolve, you summon breaker, opp chains ring. In other words, the scenario in the video, is the only way to GUARANTEE the win. -Raust

If my opp summons ter and calls prio, and I chain book or ring or something target the ter, half the posts I see say that the monster ter targeted will stay where it is and the other half say ter resolves as much as possible and the monster it targeted will go to grave.... which is true?

Correct. Priority just means activating as chain link 1, ie Cannon soldier was summoned last turn and you summon sangan. You can use cannon soldier as chain link 1 to sac Sangan with Cannon effect. Priority exist in all phases too

hes holding priority, in goat format since it goes by old rules, you can activate a fast effect or ignition effect as priority, so he summons hex-sealed to start the chain,(this is normally when torrential would be able to go off) but instead hes chaining hex-sealed fusion effect to his own summon and then chaining torrential (as a fact effect) since the original chain 1 is still the summon? thats how i think it happened.

  • @milesgreenwood5036

When a monster is summoned, there are two stages: the summon negation window, and the summon response window. The former is only for counter traps or cards that negate summons, then the negation window ends. During the SRW, you can activate Torrential during any point in the chain, because they last thing to actually happen was the summon, even if you activated a priority effect, the priority effect has not resolved because you are still adding cards to the chain, IE Torrential

Because BLS isn't chaining to Ring. All priority is, is the turn player to user their cards as CL1. It's not exclusive to monster either, so for example: If you draw your fourth card and have say MTS in hand, you can play it as CL1 since you have priority to do so in order to avoid cards like Dustshoot.

Hi, I don’t see why I couldn’t use metamorphosis on sinister, then on summon TER, torrential tribute on summon, then normal summon breaker and attack for lethal… breaker would have 1900 ATK and the opponent would still lose to ring of destruction if they activated.

o k so, your means of winning that duel was completely different then mine was. here's my thought process: Torrential is on summon period, and scapegoats summons token's without using your normal summon. my play would have been play scapegoats, let it resolve and on the token's summon activate torrential, sending everything to the graveyard, board woulda been cleared and you'd still have your normal summon. summon breaker (since breaker i think gets the counter on summon before he has the chance to activate ring), head to attacks and swing for game (Granted this is assuming ring of destruction can't respond before breaker get's the counter)

@@MTGDuelist8870 a bit of a late reply but you indeed can’t activate scapegoats if there aren’t 4 monster zones available for them. Secondly, if you summon Breaker, his trigger effect to get a counter will activate, and the opponent can chain Ring before it resolves, thus destroying Breaker before he gets his counter and both players lose 1600 (you did mention this at the end of your post though). Third, you can’t even summon Breaker in the first place because Scapegoats says you can’t summon any monsters on the same turn you activate Scapegoats, you can only set monsters. Although I was unaware of that part of the effect of Scapegoats until just a few days ago!

3:11 Wrong First off I wanna say the definition of Priority on wiki Yugioh I feel is incorrect. 1. Priority is not a player's ability to declare their monster's effect as CL1. 2. I feel like Priority is a Spurt of Moment to Activate one's Ignition effect quickly and get it over and dealt with, also they are immune from chains so you cannot chain to their effect everything would either have to come before or after 3. So in that instance Torrential Tribute can not be activated as cl2 but has to be directly responding to a summon. 4. So BLS gets Summoned, Declare Priority. Opponent has Option to hold TT or activate TT on summon Only. CL 1 TT CL 2 BLS Ef 5. Also Chain Links do not apply to priority unless it involves a card that directly responds to a summon (BTH, Trap Hole, TT, RoD) 6. Because of the way you explained it, BLS is Off the field and can not resolve it's effect as it is an Ignition Activates and resolves on Field Effect. Hope we can discuss more. Not to sound negative or anything, also I wanna say Keep the videos coming your doing a great job for the Goat community

your logic is wrong, Idk where you are getting this information from but allow me to help enlighten you. priority is the turn players ability to activate an effect as chain link one. This still exists to this day but it was changed so that a turn player no longer had priority to activate an ignition effect in response to his own summon. Roughly speaking this was because the last thing that happens is the summon, because it is the turn players turn they have priority to activate their effects first, similar to how the turn player in modern yugioh has priority to activate the first card or action in a phase. For your second point that is also incorrect. Since the turn player is retaining priortiy to activate their ingition effect in response to their own summon. The last completed action is the summon, that's why torrential tribute can be activated in the first place. Knowing that the ignition effect is in direct response to the summon should answer points 3-4 5 is correct 6 effects do not have to be on the field to resolve, unless otherwise stated on the card. This has always been a thing.
