If it's for a kickstarter, I'm always down to donate to help someone achieve their dreams. I donated to the GameChasers movie, and it turned out really good. I even bought Pat's first NES book even though I'm not a huge fan. Like Ricky, I sold all my NES games to go on an important trip. To just send random money to streamers though, I'm not gunna do that.

Really enjoyed the conversation revolving around parenting and gaming. As a dad with two little ones myself, I have been on the fence about when to introduce games to my kids. That conversation also got me doing some self-reflection on if/how gaming has affected me and why I do it in the first place. Also, would love for yall to have Richie the Barber on.

The topic about balance of outside time and gaming as a kid is very interesting. I feel like I spent the majority of my daytime outside, but after getting home it was always gaming. Often with my old man on the old 2600 or NES. Or on the weekends when I would have friends stay over - we would play outside during the day, but after dinner it was always games until we couldn’t stay up any longer. It’s not like my parents forced it, it was just kind of what we did at the time (late 80s/early 90s for reference).

Was thinking as I was watching that one of the few times I've donated to a youtuber's cause was the Chloe thing years back. And on the topic fundraising for someone else is completely dif than pushing for donations for oneself - though it's a weird line now because fan funding is one of the main sources of revenue for many full time creators at this point on Twitch etc. Kind of a different lens on that though vs. the stuff from back in the day on KZread.

Basically 1% of youtube/twitch or whatever, channel even make it to the point where they get monetized. Of that group, 1% of channels that are monetized make enough to make a living, just, like you will be on the bread line but still it counts. 1% of those 1% actually make money on youtube / twitch or make a living on youtube. Yea so that's the chance to make it on youtube / twitch in reality. So if you are begging on youtube / twitch for money many it's time to consider this is not for you and you are not the 1% of the 1% of the 1% who can make money doing this.
