I'm a Brit living in Finland and use KZread and other sites to download UK series that I can't view over here. I've spent weeks looking for an answer to this annoying problem and your tutorial has resolved the issue. Absolutely brilliant! If there were KZread Tutorial medals you'd get a Gold! Thanks so much.

I found the issue ! Had to turn on logging to do so. VLC tries all the LUAC files to find one that can process the URL. I didn't delete the original LUAC file, I just renamed it. I didn't realize it was using a 'brute-force' approach to see what LUAC script would be able to process the URL. The log showed me that it found my renamed LUAC and it failed to extract the video file location. So I deleted the renamed LUAC and voila, it worked. And it didn't care where VLC was installed - I did test both the default 64-bit location and on another drive - same outcome. Thanks for this - a big time saver !

Got it to work... thanks a bunch. I don't know what I was doing wrong, but it worked when I just took the file that I downloaded instead of the copy/paste/rename thing. I saw many videos about this very thing but could follow none of them... You explained it very clearly.Thanks.

Thank you very much!! Worked fine for me with win 10. I didn't know how to change the .txt extension into .luac extension, but in your description you have a link to your luac file. So I copied that into the folder and it did the job! Cheers!

I recently found that VLC allows you to change the pitch when playing content in it, and I've always wanted to do the same with music on KZread. Thanks for posting the video because I can do it now :)

Thank You. I subscribed your channel. I go as : Right click the VLC icon ---Open file location--- Left click Lua folder---Left click Playlist folder then lookfor youtube.lauc replace with your LUA file. Saving you tube video is when I reach @8:23 I stop and go to Codec information then follow as the earlier you tube video downloading method .Cheers

I tried doing this exact method with the same script, but only your way worked. Other videos wanted me to edit the orignal .luac file, but it wouldn't let me save it. Dragging a premade text file into the folder and repalcing the original did the trick. Thanks a ton!

Okay, had problems with the fix, but went back and followed his EXACT instructions at 5:00 (checking the box in options). Made all the difference and now works. Thank you for this video!!

@@SuperPertinax What would you say to this please? I found this modified file didn't work if you copied to another Windows PC? I redone your process from that PC and all OK? The first VLC player was 32-bit, the second was 64-bit. The correct programme location was used as it is different as you mentioned but I was still surprised.

Thank you so much! Great delivery too. One idea for all you guys, I watch a lot of KZread and have a good ad blocker. Need to reload the page at the beginning and press play, but 2 to 5 seconds beats bothersome ads. Also to download worthy video, I use Media Human's KZread Downloader. It is lighting fast and you do not have to sit through the video to record it. There is 20 video download for free limit. Sort of... ;P

Caution, luac files on a Mac are compiled files. Yes, they can be opened with a text editor but cannot be modified.

Thank you ever so much for this video. I once used VLC to download the occasional video from youtube and then switched to using the Torch browser to download videos. Then I could no longer download any youtube videos at all. Starting around the second or third week of December 2019, something changed somewhere (perhaps over on youtube?) preventing me (and everyone else?) from downloading youtube videos. Curiously, when I look at the tabs that my Firefox browser shows me, I now see either (22) or (24) appended to the named tab right in front of the tab name. In the past, I do not think I ever saw this (22) or (24) appended to the named tab. Anyway, to make a long story short, I followed your instructions, exactly, on a Windows 10 laptop pc, using the 32 bit version of VLC, and your solution worked for me. I was able to download a youtube video. Thanks again!
