Great video, recently started creating survival content on KZread, South African here and the economy can make things challenging, along with being a family man I may have to wait for some time before getting a good lighting kit. Priorities and all. One of the best styled how-to videos I've seen on this topic. Awesome!

Thanks, that's the idea
Use a table lamp covered with paper, shining on you from overhead, slightly off centre. Use a aluminum foil pasted on thermocol, fixed to a coat hanger stand, reflecting off the table lamp, for diffused fill in light. No color errors then. Mighty inexpensive too 😇

my lamp is like... REALLY yellow. will that still work

@@snowelladash9234 If it's yellow that means it's a low kelvin bulb. Maybe try buying a higher kelvin bulb with the same socket and wattage rating. Individual bulbs cost around $1-5

The bit when you talk about where light comes from, very thoughtful, don't be afraid of those kind of thoughts - it's philosophy, and no one knows what they're talking about really: have fun with it!
Excellent. I’m bare bones beginning and this was great for me. Thanks for making this video.

I liked this video ;) plain and simple
Great vid! Simple and easy to understand! Just covered a lot of these tips in my lighting tutorial as well, it’s cool to see other people’s set ups and how they are using light to enhance their shot. It makes all the difference! I like your blue practical in the back, really adds to the vibe!
Thanks for the tips on this!
"... Light coming from underneath ... Looks like you're telling a ghost story." That might work for me.
You nailed this. The improvement is huuuuuge plus you made me had a couple of good laughs. Subbed! Thanks for the advice.
i wasnt expecting it but i loved when the cat appeared
Wow wow wow! Thank you so much for breaking this down for a true beginner. This is EXTREMELY helpful.

Beautiful simple light! Amazing
Great tutorial! Thank you. I place a light on the right side and a mirror like thing in the front/left side to brighten up the rest of my face.
Simple and straightforward explanation! Thank you!
Nice vid! 👏🏼 The „from the top“ thing is because ppl. look slimmer when the light comes from above - it‘s just more flattering that way :)
Explained really simply and clearly. Learned a lot! Thanks mate
That was EXTREMELY Helpful. Thank you.
Thank you for this video I really need a simple video like this
Thank you for this video. It was very informative and helpful in terms of visualizing the lighting setups and being able to actually see them in practice. Loved the cameo from your cat too.

It's crazy how much difference it makes to have proper lighting. Definitely a key investment.
I have literally just started Thank you so much
Thanks for sharing!!
This video had really helpful information about things to consider while thinking of lighting set-up! I have been filming with natural daylight so far but due to uni/work and nowadays the sun-setting at like 3:00 pm I do not have a big time window to film, so looking into getting lights. I am really tight on budget so I have no idea what I will end up getting, looking into DIY-ing my light set-up if I cannot find anything cheap and good 😅
Thanks for the lighting help!
This is sooooo helpful thank you very much!!!!

I really like your lighting setup. I'm thinking about diving into making videos here something this year or next and I appreciate the helpful tips and hints. Thanks!
Wow, you changed the whole look of your visual presentation just with 2 lights, great video. I always wanted to have background colour lights but I need a nice little shelf setup with cool items on it first.
Thanks for your help! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
For low budget, absolutely natural window light and also the lamps you might already have around the house. A common desk lamp angled at your face off to the side is a dramatic improvement to a top down ceiling light.
👍 Best short video on how to achieve good lighting! Concise and informative! 👍
I like how simple these tips! Been wondering how to do this as I dont have a very good background, but this is amazing enough!
Great video, thanks!
