Hey Coach, I just wanted to chime in real quick to say thanks for everything. Like many/most/all of us, coaching flag was something that I was thrust into out of necessity four years ago. I had absolutely zero idea what I was doing and your channel was one of the only places for information of actual value available to me. I learned so much starting out from all of your videos. After roughly 10 seasons since then, I finally won my first championship last spring. It was such an awesome moment to share with my oldest son and something I will remember for the rest of my life. Over the years, I have kind of developed my own system, my own plays, etc. But I always come back for new drill, play, and practice ideas. Thank you for everything that you do, please keep it up.

Great video. I made some notes, for a smart QB, if they know the defense is playing zone, then they want to target the routes with the hard cuts. If you know they are in man, target your fastest receiver. I also use motion for size mismatches, (not that this should happen, but it does,) like arena football, WR is at full speed when the ball comes off the ground.

Very solid notes that can help coaches decide when to use motion and what to look for when receivers are in motion. Thx for the insight, Felipe! 🏈🔥

Awesome video Coach D. Love this and your playbook. Do you know what the purpose of the NFL Flag rules that prohibit pitches and laterals of any kind (even behind the line of scrimmage) and screen passes (even when no teammates are around the receiver)? Also, I noticed NFL Flag now bans center draw plays. These rules along with only giving a team 3 downs to score on the second half of the field really makes it difficult for young teams without good QBs. I much prefer the Gridiron rules which also allow QBs to run when rushed, center draws (after taking a step back) and at least allow pitches behind the line of scrimmage.

Totally agree with the frustration. I believe they wanted to avoid collisions and contact when the ball is pitched. I also saw a lot of fumbles and dead balls on pitches, but agree it should be allowed. I get it though from a league standpoint. I like the 3 down option to get into the end zone - it’s a challenge, so it makes coaching more interesting and forces us to get creative and think bigger on the back half. My favorite play for years was my center sneak. It was my first play of the game with my speedster scoring right out of the gate. That can be pretty deflating so I’m sure that’s why they took that away. They aren’t hot on trick plays. I’m glad we have options out there but I’ve always coached with Flag, but have been intrigued by grid iron, i9, and many others that allow other options like laterals, kicking, QB scrambling and more. If I get solid reasoning behind your initial question I’ll loop you in. Thx again for the thoughtful comment. I think I owe you a reply on an earlier comment! 🏈🔥

@@CoachD Thanks for the insight. I used your center draw play in our Gridiron league last year and it was one of the kid's favorite plays. The center had to take a step back (we used two to be safe) under the Gridiron rules. Not only did it almost always get great yards, it gave me an opportunity to get my center to run the ball (he was the only kid who could reliably do shotgun snaps that we used on your plays and the ones I created). I wonder if NFL Flag has any data to support those restrictive rules. In NFL studies, concussions are actually much higher in passing plays than running plays. Running back and O-Lineman do get more concussions (presumably from running), but its much less than what the receivers get in the passing game. The one thing I love about football, especially college, is the diversity of play styles. To the extent we can encourage that, and keep flag football super safe regarding head injuries (the main reason why my son will stick with Flag over tackle), I think the sport will grow even more.

I coach in i9 and I like their rules. You can do center draws and the QB can only be rushed by a rusher 7 yards away. Running plays and misdirection are still the bread and butter. But you're right a decent QB can help but not 100% required.

Hey coach, do you have any videos or information on the coach being the QB, as for my five year old is his first year. They are looking for volunteer coaches, just wondering if you have any information on that. Keep up the good work.

It depends on the players you have on the team, but I’ve seen motion plays at 2nd grade and up. If it’s built into the offense it’s just another part of the route pre-snap so it can be pretty simple.

Great video as usual... I was just thinking about how to use motion in plays this year and this video really helps. Which brings me to my question... I would like to put those plays into my playbook this year, but I don't see them in any of the playbooks in my play builder... Are these in a new playbook that needs to be purchased or were these just built with the play builder. One more question, do you have any videos (or can you share) any videos of games that you've coach... I've been watching videos of the games to get more info on certain formations, MOTION as I said before, in game adjustments, etc. Again, great video and looking forward to using this season.

But if you have the complete coach Bootcamp, plug & play bundle or the membership it will be included. I’m considering making other play bundles for motion plays, short yardage plays, red zone plays, etc…so stay tuned. Try these plays out and let me know how they work out on the field.

Coach quick question. So there’s “illegal motion” calls in the league, and like you said there’s some motions where the receiver is motioning pre snap and while the player is motioning the QB hikes it and you can fake handoff to the player like you said, my question being the “rules” say a player has to get set. So if I motion a player and snap it while he’s motioning will I be penalized? P.S. sorry I worded it bad lol

Also if i do like u said and motion snap a player and there not on the line of scrimmage will that get called for “not lining up the players on the line of scrimmage? Like a illegal formation kinda call, thanks coach!

It really depends on your league rules. Check with a ref early on to get the specific rule. In NFL Flag I’ve seen motion work where the player didn’t have to be set before the snap. Let me know what you find out.
