    This is the best vid I have found on the use of the really subtle pedal. I do like mine although I may have been expecting too much in terms of shaping vs. enhancement as you point out. Thanks for posting. The best way to get to know the pedal is to leave it on for a while, then turn it off the effect is more evident. Just switching on/off and turning knobs does not make the subtle differences obvious.

    Awsome review, I have a small acoustic pedalboard and I’m having trouble in what order I should organize my chain. I have it this way: guitar>Tuner>IR Pedal>LR Baggs Reverb>LR Baggs Session DI (This is different as the one you are reviewing but is basically the same core)

  • @guitariq

    No worries, if you're running into an amp, I'd place the reverb after the Session DI. However, if you're running straight to a mixing desk you'll probably want to keep the DI last in chain. Hope that helps!

    Great video! I have a nylon string with a built-in piezo pickup that loses its natural tone a bit when plugged in. I would like to boost the volume in a live setting and maybe enhance the tone a little bit, would you recommend this pedal for that or would it be too subtle?

  • @guitariq

    Thanks! Awesome, those pedals should sound great together ; ) If you're running into an acoustic amp... I'd probably go: the Venue, into the Session, into the Reverb. (Though, you might want to try swapping the Session and Venue around to see which you prefer). However, if you're mainly using the DI 'Output' of the Venue... I'd simply run both the Session and Reverb pedals in the 'Effects Loop' of the Venue. This will give you a more versatile setup and would probably be the option I'd recommend. Hope that helps!

    Thank you for the informative post. I am in the process of putting a small acoustic pedal board together. I currently have the LR Baggs Venue and TC Helicon Harmony Singer 2. I am considering purchasing the LR Baggs Align series Reverb and Session. Could you recommend the chain order of the 4 pedals on the board? Thanks in advance.

  • @guitariq

    @guitariq

    3 жыл бұрын

    No worries! It's hard to say, without knowing exactly how you'll be using your setup. I'm not that familiar with the Singer pedal. However, usually I'd place any pitch effects first in chain. So I'd probably suggest: Singer 2 > Session > Reverb > Venue I'd also probably place the Session and the Reverb in the FX loop of the Venue. That way you have a clean signal hitting the tuner/front end of the Venue. Anyway, hope that helps!

    No worries. I suggest trying... Wireless System > Optima Air > (Session > Looper - both in the Optima Air FX loop) > Blue Sky. However, if you want to run the Optima Air as your main DI, you could also try the Blue Sky in the effects loop too. Additionally, you might prefer having your looper after the Blue Sky if you like being able to change the reverb sound on some layers. Hope that helps!

    I would in general terms always aim for preamp>eq>compressor>reverb&delay. But you could switch reverb&delay to go before compression. And try to high pass filter at around 80-100hz before compressor aswell. And if you use dramatic tone shaper put it right after preamp.

  • @guitariq

    @guitariq

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey, I have an AP5 pickup from Maton. Yeah, IR's might improve the sound of your guitar... However, they'll probably work a lot better with a pickup that already sounds relatively balanced. Preamp pedals work to enhance what's there. So it really depends how bad the pickup quality is to start with...

    So on mine I can’t use the gain at all. Like I can’t even turn it past the first hash before it starts lighting up the clip indicator. I’ve even tried turning the pick up all the way down, and that allows me to SLIGHTLY bump the gain to like maybe the 3rd or 4th hash, then starting clipping again. I do play pretty hard but I don’t have any issues out of any of my other pedals. Playing a PRS Angelus SE A60E. HELPPPPPPP!

  • @guitariq

    I'd experiment with both options. The benefit of having the session first is that any additional EQ moves won't affect the comp or saturation. However, you may prefer the Session after the EQ as a type of "finishing" effect. So both would work. It's just really about what you like the sound of ; )
