I've watched all the recent performances. Each of the speakers says very weighty and inspiring things. But this one has talent. Feels a little gimmicky. It really enhances the speech and the impression of what was said. Thanks for the inspiration!🤗

I appreciate the kind words!
Such an incredible talk Dan! I definitely feel called out as our marketing site design system has totally stalled out after "button" component (and we've already rebuilt it like 3 or 4 times) 😅 After this talk I'm excited to uncover our meatiness, most complex component!
Saw all Config Talks. This one is in my top. Thanks for sharing.👊🏼
Thanks for the inspiring talk Dan ! I recently discovered your youtube channel and i was happy to know that you were also part of this event. Greetings from Chile.

Mall highlights the inquiry from a prospective client in 2014 which showed a lack of awareness of design system terminology [2:16]. Client inquiry from 2018 shows a shift towards a more specific message about design system work [3:08]. Email from 2021 shows a client with a more mature design system with established components and a desire for adoption [3:38]. Inquiry from 2022 demonstrates the use of design system buzzwords [4:32].
Oh the button...
I can’t 100% agree that you should not involve other designers in the design system development process. My experience says that if you have a small design team (5-10 people) you’ll benefit a lot from the collaboration. Cause people can understand how the system is being built, they can feel their belonging and learn your (the design system advocate) approach. As a result, you’ll get a more consistent product where everyone stands for the design system principles because they literally understand these principles and they can use them. But I’d agree that it’s harder or even impossible to involve everyone in bigger teams with 15+ designers.
Im still going to call it a carousel.
Someone should tell him how to get his next haircut tho
