Was looking up if anyone did a wooting build inside a salvation board and found this channel instead. Just saw your other videos and you have phenomenal production quality. Keep up the great work!

Look at that bounce! This sounds just majestic. Can't wait for mine to arrive, really looking forward to building it. Although I think I'll be going with the included FR4 plate, even though plateless sounds enticing I'm not sure I'd be able to adapt to so much flex
@Cinekeysbytommy
Жыл бұрын
Building with FR4 plate would definitely be flexy enough for most, but you could also try it with a half-plate if you're looking for an in-between

The design looks so interesting. But why does it matter what plate to use in terms of the flex? Since it's mounted to the leaf springs on the bottom and not around the edges of the pcb/plate, the flex doesn't even come from the material of the pcb/plate itself - it could be a steel plate and still have that bounce no?
@Cinekeysbytommy
Жыл бұрын
If the plate/pcb assembly is rigid, it won't flex, you will feel the whole build move à bit, but not certain parts individually ant not as much. I can't explain it properly with words, but yes, material does matter. The leaf springs are more responsible for isolating the assembly from the case. Also, the plate material will still matter in terms of the softness you feel when bottoming out. Hope I explained clearly enough!

@@Cinekeysbytommy Thx for the reply! It is hard to picture it in the mind from experience, the design is really very unique ;
Bro uses the cloudline to game 😭
Can this amount of flex only be achieved with a plateless build? I use alu plate and my board feels very stiff.
how do feel about it's value proposition and current-day standing amongst its prcie range?

At the time of GB, all these "entry" boards you can buy now, such as the QK series, were not a thing yet. If someone wants a custom mechanical keyboard that doesn't have any crazy aesthetic features, those boards are the better choice most of the time. However, what the Salvation offers, at still an affordable price (I believe around 300USD including extra markup) compared to higher-end boards, is an unique and innovative experience that you will not find anywhere else yet. To answer your question, it's value depends on what you're looking for in the hobby. In my case for example,, I already own a fair amount of keyboards, sold a fair amount, and have identified the boards that I consider my endgame, so I see this board as something unique and fun that I'd like to own but that I could easily let go. Hope that's clear enough.

idk about the price ($300 for a glorified tofu was ok in 2021 because of the big names and the lack of competition) but it sure wasn't worth the almost 2 year wait. pick it up from the aftermarket if you spot one below cost but avoid possible marked up extras. for a fraction of the price, entry level boards in 2023 offer a slew of practical and aesthetic features this board lacks entirely. took too long, no matter the reasons. the market did change significantly in the meantime.

@@Cinekeysbytommy Hahahha that sounds awesome, a functional snack holder as well
what does the "bounce" feel like? As a hardcore FPS player who wants to put my Wooting inside of this case, I'm just a bit worried on the fact that the keys move like that. is it something hard to get used to, or does it put me at a disadvantage for FPS gaming? Great video!
@Cinekeysbytommy
Жыл бұрын
When you press hard on a key, it'll take a while until it fully bottoms out. Considering people don't usually type in an extreme manner on their keyboards, what you should feel when gaming is softness, meaning that you won't feel any hard feedback when pressing the key all the way down. I can't tell you if it'll affect your performance in a competitive FPS since it only depends on the user. Keep in mind that the build would be very different from mine since the Wooting60 comes with a steel plate, some foam, and a pcb without flex cuts if I'm not mistaken.
@x3LightNinG

really personal preference again. but personally i dont think this is a board suitable for gaming, i would probably switch to a stiffer board probably top mount for fps

Tried one with a full FR4 plate. Ithas significantly less flex and bounce than a plateless build, but still more than what you'd get with your typical gasket mounted board. Slightly higher pitched sound wise.
