Hsu Tao couldn't stand her husband who was often violent towards her and turned her away from her family. She and Kao Chu, the blind whom Hsu Tao knew while working as a care worker in the hospital, lived together and took care of each other. When Hsu Tao knew that she was suffering from breast cancer, the biggest worry in her mind was Kao Chu. Hsu Tao bought several days’ worth of food to keep at home in order to make Kao Chu’s life as normal as possible within her surgery period. Hsu Tao didn’t want Kao Chu to worry too much, so she concealed her illness and lied that she was going to Hualien as a volunteer. Then she went to hospital alone for the surgery.
