For me, personally, I’d say there is a good chance that Gabry-L is the true artist considering the fact that it is listed on Discogs, with a (supposed) album picture, multiple remixes compiled, and listed under a true (although defunct) record company. The date is about correct too; listed as 2002 (it first appeared on the Internet in 2003). Of course, all of this truly depends on whether the Discogs page was made before or after the song became a somewhat popular lostwave mystery. Since to my knowledge we can’t tell when Discogs pages were created or updated (it isn’t Wikipedia), I guess we can’t know. I just hope it gets found out soon because I love it.

The YT video from 14 years ago that asks what song it is lists the date "2000/01", which might be the month that they recorded it from a radio station, or it could be trying to say "2000 or 2001", so i'd say it's safe to say that we can narrow it to 2001 or before

But this has always confused me as a whole, i thought we'd have a easier time solving this since it's from the early 2000s but maybe it's the fact that Italodance had such a big boom in popularity on the online space at that time, and the only way to access music was by physical copy or pirating off LimeWire. Italodance is such an iconic genre of EDM in the very late 90s/early 2000s just like techno and even today, so i wouldn't be surprised that so many were made to capitalize off the boom. And with the strange few misidentification and false alarms like Gabry L, it's not hard to see why many people are so hesitant to take any to leads. How strange this song is.

The lyrics and the musical style remind me of Daddy DJ’s two music videos, where the boy fell in love with the girl. If this really was Daddy DJ’s song, did she somehow broke up with that boy? I always thought a good tool would be a reverse audio search, so you could input a clip of audio and it would find that very audio in an existing youtube video. A ton of older lostwave songs that were already uploaded on youtube and sitting there waiting to be found could have been solved A LOT quicker if such tool existed. Could also help determine if songs are online digitally at all or only exist in physical (CD/vinyl/tape) format.

Edit: While it is possible that the artist is Italian, keep in mind that Italodance was popular around Y2K and a branch of Eurodance which was evolving into progressive house/trance. Also, remember that the original file name from China says "European and American lyrical high-end pop"? I can imagine the song coming from Scandinavia or even Brazil, where ATB was popular. As for why I mentioned Barcode Brothers, "Your Eyes" sounds an awful lot like "SMS".

@SmailiconaReborn the Gabry-L "lead" (which was never really a lead) was debunked ages ago, i dont even know who came up with the name but it's a fake artist name that just stuck. The Che-JT lead was also debunked IIRC I think the actual Che-JT was located and confirmed it wasn't their song.
