Your curly hair isn't ugly

Ойын-сауық

I didn't always like my natural hair. I used to straighten it every single day, and essentially do anything to hide my curls. Eventually, enough became enough... and I discovered a hair routine that works for me! In learning how to take care of my hair the right way, I also learned that I am allowed to believe in my own beauty, too. I present to you: my long awaited curly hair routine!

I remember looking at your curly hair routine in like 2019 and copying it because I had no idea what to do with my hair and it looked disgusting. I copied the video and had such pretty results and I’ve been doing your routine ever since:) You’ve helped me become so confident in my curly hair:) Thank you so much😊

when you said “everyone around me had socially accepted straight hair” i felt that in my soul.. i have 4c high porosity hair and i remember straightening my hair everyday multiple times a day in middle school and it still wasn’t good enough for the socially accepted straight hair. i still have a hatred towards my hair because even though curls are seen as beautiful now, my curls are not and i still don’t understand how to manage it. but i have accepted it and i have been working towards understanding and loving it for the past 4 years and i’ll continue on this journey until i finally love my curls 🫶🏽

Your hair is gorgeous Jazzy! I used to get really bothered by my curly hair too because people who say it looked better straight or say stuff like “ hey NOW you look good” when I straightened it. But I’ve heard it’s something most people with curls have to go through.. which suuuuucks.. but oh well! Love my hair now so yeah (and we’ve finally got a curly emoji so things are looking up👩🏻‍🦱😅)

This video is TOO relatable. I grew up in a very white neighborhood and it never occurred to me as a kid that there were other people in this world that had hair like mine, and i always believed i had to have straight hair in order to be beautiful. It took me YEARS to walk into school with my hair outside of a ponytail. I always thought having an Afro was ugly when i was a kid because i never saw anyone else with hair like mine, and right now my younger sister is going through the exact same thing and it breaks my heart. My mom always straightened her hair, so for a long time she made me believe that my hair would be prettier if it wasn’t curly. It has taken me a very, very long time to learn that my natural hair is beautiful, and that Eurocentric features aren’t the only features in this world that are beautiful. THANK YOU for this video because it isn’t often i see people talking about dealing with the exact same thing that i dealt with.

As a young teenage girl with curly hair, ive always loved my natural curls, and i always wear my natural curls, the main issues I STRUGGLE with are baby hairs, too much friz, and my curls going crappy after doing anything to my hair like putting it in a ponytail, but ive found a routine that works absolute wonders, my curls don’t necessarily last after me sleeping (cause i sleep like a monster) but they’re still very healthy, cared for, and still look gorgeous, but honestly i owe it ALL to my mom who always encouraged me to love my curly hair, honestly i dont know where I’d be without my momma 💗 although she can be very strict she just wants the best for me 💗

you should definitely invest in a silk bonnet or pillow case to protect your hair at night! it’s honestly so worth the money (which isn’t very much to begin with) and does wonders! I notice with my curly hair it becomes flat if i lay on it or sleep without my bonnet (i’m a wild sleeper too lol) and also when you put the bonnet on, make sure you pineapple your hair which is essentially just collecting your hair at the top then putting the bonnet on. i promise it’s worth it!

It’s so dry and fried rn but I hope I can get my curls back and I really needed some tips for like how to get the curls back so thank you for this 💓

Felt this video on a spiritual level oml. I have always had curly hair, but my hair decided to have its curliest era in high school. My Mum has lightly wavy hair and so never understood how to care for my curly hair and it resulted in my hair basically being a frizzy mess. Thankfully I saw a video on youtube of curly hair care and realised I have curly hair! I was the only girl in my year in school who would wear natural curls (a few others had curly hair, but would just straighten it) and I remember also being so so envious of girls with naturally straight hair. I feel bad for my friends because I would complain an awful lot to them about how hard it was to have curly hair lol. Luckily everyone would only ever hype me up, and I am almost there with loving my hair!! Awesome video, thanks for sharing

I've only just gotten around to watching it but this was such a cute video! My hair used to be frizzy and wavy and I didn't necessarily want straight hair but I was insecure about how my hair looked. But then during lockdown I started to do some research and learned how to take care of my curly hair and I'm now at a place where I love it! I'm still learning and trying out different ways to style etc. but I'm so glad I decided to learn how to take care of and love my hair. If you also have curly/wavy hair that you want to learn how to take care of, go for it! It might take a while and some patience, but it doesn't have to be complicated or expensive, and in the end you'll know what's best for you. Good luck on your curly hair journeys! 💕💕

I have always been insecure about my hair. I have wavy hair, so it was enough for me to think it was straight, but if i ever run a brush through it, it would poof up and get super frizzy. I was always in awe of the girls at my school with straight hair. It was pretty, and easy to manage. Now, years later i realise that i actually have wavy 2b hair. I'll never have silky straight hair, so i've learned to love my curls. Thanks jazzy. I've been needing this.

honestly thank you for making this video jazzy bc i literally love when you talk about things like this and your experiences and lessons learned. i really relate despite having pin straight hair. i’m chinese, have a bulbous and b nose, small eyes, and i wear my hair short. i’m constantly stuck between comparing myself with the conventionally pretty and “sought after” girls at my school, and embracing what i’d like to look like. one moment i’ll be like Ok i love my individuality and the next i’ll hate everything about myself and decide no boy will ever love me because i’m not conventionally attractive or the aesthetic i desire isn’t what guys i like desire. ITS SUCH A STRUGGLE but i literally cannot gaf anymroe. ty for this video it’s more empowering than you know.

I have a bit more kinkier hair (4c) which is quite difficult to manage for me since I’m tender headed and I always let it grow into a bird’s nest every 3 months until my mom forces me to get it done, but this video convinced me that maybe…PERHAPS..curly hair might not be so bad. It’s refreshing to see you admire curly hair so much. Growing up my mom always had her hair permed straight frequently because it was easier to manage and was deemed desirable in society. I’m not too sure how I’m supposed to style or do my hair, but I feel more open to the idea that I can learn to love my hair after viewing this video. It’s good to see you uploaded a video today

We had the same hair when we were little!! Idk if we have the same curl patterns (mine are really mixed) but I love this video, I think it’s really important to embrace curls and rock them as you should! Love you and your videos a lot and thank you for making this one 💛

As someone who was born with curly hair and always knew i had it, it’s embarrassing how long it took me to actually embrace the curls. in middle school my mom would always do my hair, but after she got a job that required her to be there by 4 am i had to do everything on my own. i would just wash my hair (with awful products that had sulfates and silicones) and then blow dry it and put it back in a ponytail of frizzy mess. when covid happened i decided i wanted to make my hair healthier cause it was really dead from my not caring about it. after a few months it started to really be gorgeous and now i love my curls. they’re a lot to deal with being that my hair is down to my butt and is super thick, but my routine of washing it whenever (like once every week or once every two weeks) and just refreshing my hair whenever has shown fantastic results!
