Here's another tip for you guys: get yourself a nice coffee table with a drawer element! It's a life saver. I have one, it's very stylish, elegant, and it has a deep drawer for all the junk because life is messy and we need storage! Especially us who live in small spaces.

Another very important consideration...especially when you have friends over for drinks...make sure the coffee table is within reach so if they want to set their drinks down they can without having to really reach (avoids people spilling things too)

I don’t have coffee tables. I swore off the “wart in the middle of the room” long ago. It feels very satisfying to reclaim the space. I do have really cool side tables. Really cool way to make a statement.

I'm not a fan of coffees either but then I saw one that I love. It is a beautiful wood with two panes of glass. Underneath, on either side, is a cream coloured square stool. It had a lid and great for storage. They can be pulled out to be used as seats.

My coffee table is a thrift ed oval table with my eccentric thrifted finds. A jar of farmer's market sunflowers. Love fresh cut over fake. Large ceramic bull terrior I named Spuds. Green glass bowl, a candle and some coasters. Occasionally there might be a Siamese or calico cat hanging out there, depends on the mood. They like hanging out with Spuds.
Lovely tablescapes! The stone trio & tree root tables blew me away - how beautiful...
I was hoping for tips on how to choose a coffee table….size, proportions, clearance, unique options….this was fun but not exactly what I needed.

Eighteen to twenty-four inches of clearance is pretty standard, but it depends on the size of the room, and how much furniture you have in it.
Your hitting it right on the nail!!!!! I am looking for a coffee table for my living room. I am also debating to even place one. I am still deciding! Can’t wait for this video!!!!
I am SO looking forward to this series!! 😆
I’ve really never cared much for live edge or tree root tables, etc. this tree root with the simple small round vase and greenery is like a dream. Thanks, Lisa.
I think what she is talking about Squidge is that if you look at the table from the top, The items should not form an equilateral triangle, meaning that the triangle formed should not have any equal sides, in plan view. That way it is more interesting, and from all sides it looks a little different. Try it and you will see.
I didnt think I would get anything useful for myself.....but I now know I REALLY need a tray on my coffee table! Thanks!😊
I listen to your videos like a podcast while I walk to work every morning. Your energy cheers me up every time.

Yes!!!! I can’t wait, I have been hunting a coffee table.
Love, love, love, these ideas! Lisa, you're the bomb!
I refinished and painted our small antique coffee table. It isn't big enough to for bold styling, and the solid maple top (finished with hemp oil) is so beautiful I don't even want to put anything on it yet. I painted the base a blue-gray shade, which contrasts nicely with the maple. I am considering maybe a glass tray or bowl, but right now it is totally bare.
My Noguchi hosts a singular large Alessi Mediterraneo bowl in red. It's been like that for years and I never get tired of its simplicity.
Love your personality, style and effusive energy, Lisa. So much fun watching you.

Hi,Lisa. Waka from Japan. I love the tree root table! how fantastic it is! Ive learned the coffee table is the place where you want to feel in, not for putting on a cap of coffee, remote of TV.
Lisa, thank you....,after my career as an Interior Designer, I worked for Macy's, in the Furniture Department, selling furniture, Rugs, and Mattresses.......,loved being able to take that hat off at the door....on my way home.....what I brought to my guests, was a loving list of ideas, using their dimensions, but giving lots of the ABC's.......most of all, my interest in them........bringing them back to me......the trust is my everything......
I feel like I'm ready to go coffee table shopping now😊

Another tip: larger-than-average coffee tables can really elevate the room as well. Even in a small space, they just add something special......ones with an open 'airy' base will keep it from overwhelming a smaller area, as do those with glass tops. Thrifted a 42" by 46" square glass-top, bamboo base table---a statement piece which finishes off my living room without overtaking it. It's generous size also eliminates the need for side tables, as it's an easy reach from all seating areas. :) Enjoyed this video, Lisa. Thanks for posting, and love your energy. :)

@@lindajokensinger8690 GREAT idea!!
I have a very small square living room. I also a have large scale rectangle (hung vertically) framed print on one wall and a round artisan crafted copper and glass piece of art above the fireplace, square side table and a rectangle area rug. So I wanted to break up the straight lines of the sofa, print, rug, side table and fireplace and chose a two tier, rod iron and wood ROUND coffee table. I absolutely love the effect and how the iron ties in with my fireplace art piece . I love the design and shape of the table, it looks like art in my eyes. And I am somewhat of a minimalist and don't like my decor to look too contrived. So I have one candle on my table. I love decorative candles because not only do they serve a function, they work as a decorative accessory too.
Love your energy. 😁
You are a super teacher. Thank you for all your help.

I'm mid-century retro maximizing. I have a loveseat, two arm chairs and two clear lucite chairs. The square oak end tables, but coffee table is two layer glass with black metal frame, orange highedged metal tray, 7 bud vases of different heights colored glass with a fake single daisy in each, woven box for electronic clutter. Only one front window, high ceiling, brick fireplace going up peak of livingvroom. Pathway is front door across room to hall entrance or into open dining room with low ceiling staight thru kitchen to back door. Red runner 3fy by 8ft faux Turkish design pattern. Large wooden cabinet hides TV and electronics right of fireplace. Left is shorter wide English wardrobe for clutter storage.
